About the role
As a Manager of Experience Design on Touring, you’re responsible for leading a team of designers to deliver the future of how customers evaluate, explore, and gain a deep sense of each home. You’ll work to amplify the team in empowering customers with new ways to look at homes online and in person effortlessly. You’ll focus on developing positive relationships with partners, mentoring designers, and bringing an organized approach to unlock the team’s potential. Above all, managers create an open, inclusive, and trusting environment where teamwork and cooperation are valued. Touring is a crucial touch point in building trust with our customers and join our mission to make Zillow the most-loved place to discover, buy, sell, or rent a home.
You Will Get To:
- Manage a team of designers with a strong background in UX and visual design.
- Build meaningful relationships with partners, leadership, and other design managers
- Advocate for customer experience and rally cross-functional teams behind customer needs
- Help designers define projects and initiatives, develop compelling strategies, and get support for their proposals
- Evaluate designers’ work and provide guidance and mentorship to develop skills
- Define scope, timelines, resources, and prioritization for your team’s projects
- Champion iterative design practices and work closely with partners on agile development
- Coordinate with other managers to plan projects and anticipate challenges
- Help team members understand how their work and priorities align with team and company objectives
- Recruit new talent and elevate the design systems and visual design at Zillow
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.
In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $145,500.00 – $232,500.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are
- At least one year as manager of designers, leader of a design team, or similar role
- 8+ years as a product designer, user experience designer, design lead, or similar role
- Experience providing direction that helps designers grow their skills and deliver their best work
- Experience developing systems, processes, and documentation
- Strong communication skills verbal, written, and visual
- A skilled relationship builder who works effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams
- Experience presenting strategies and approaches to partners and bringing them along

We are looking for a fully remote, highly collaborative Sr. Product Designer to be a leader on the mobile apps design team. You will work closely alongside Design, Product Management, and Engineering to build up our design system libraries and documentation as well as deliver net new features for both the platform and our business. You’re not just interested in designing better products for our users. You also care about designing internal solutions (like processes, tools, templates, etc) for the teams you work with as well.
This role will be part of a growing team of product designers that are driven to create simple, beautiful, and intuitive user-focused experiences. This role will stand side by side with other product and engineering leads in driving projects forward from start to finish.
Responsibilities:
- Establish intuitive design system libraries, advocating for platform excellence and innovating on best practices for iOS and Android devices.
- Partner with Product Managers and Engineers to identify new feature opportunities and galvanize consensus for the best experience possible.
- Produce complex logic flows, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes as well as pixel-perfect designs.
- Regularly engage with customer research to develop a thorough understanding of our users’ needs and pain points, and apply insights to build human-centered experiences.
- Take ownership by gathering data, insights, or answers that may be slowing you or the team down. Said another way, if you see something, say something fix it.
- Collaborate and communicate with our team and others to ensure that everyone impacted by your work is aligned.
Experience/Skills:
- 6+ years in a UX, Interaction, or Product Design role, some of which has been focused on mobile app design.
- You have experience leading design alongside cross-functional peers in Product, Engineering, and Research.
- You’re an expert with Figma, Adobe CC and a prototyping tool or two.
- A holistic approach to design, from high level strategy all the way down to production ready deliverables.
- You have experience designing and managing design systems.
- You’re a systems thinker that is always looking for ways to consolidate complex problems or ideas into simple and scalable solutions.
- You’re a self-starter that is solution oriented, and you’re comfortable with defining and scoping opportunities with or without the help of others.

Responsibilities Include:
