About the role
As a Manager of Experience Design on Touring, you’re responsible for leading a team of designers to deliver the future of how customers evaluate, explore, and gain a deep sense of each home. You’ll work to amplify the team in empowering customers with new ways to look at homes online and in person effortlessly. You’ll focus on developing positive relationships with partners, mentoring designers, and bringing an organized approach to unlock the team’s potential. You Will Get To:
- Manage a team of designers with a strong background in UX and visual design.
- Build meaningful relationships with partners, leadership, and other design managers
- Advocate for customer experience and rally cross-functional teams behind customer needs
- Help designers define projects and initiatives, develop compelling strategies, and get support for their proposals
- Evaluate designers’ work and provide guidance and mentorship to develop skills
- Define scope, timelines, resources, and prioritization for your team’s projects
- Champion iterative design practices and work closely with partners on agile development
- Coordinate with other managers to plan projects and anticipate challenges
- Help team members understand how their work and priorities align with team and company objectives
- Recruit new talent and elevate the design systems and visual design at Zillow
This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice which must be identified to the Company. Employees may live in any of the 50 US States, with limited exceptions. In certain cases, an employee in a remote-designated job may need to live in a specific region or time zone to support customers or clients as part of their role.
In California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City and Washington the standard base pay range for this role is $145,500.00 – $232,500.00 Annually. This base pay range is specific to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, New York City and Washington and may not be applicable to other locations.
In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location.
Who you are
- At least one year as manager of designers, leader of a design team, or similar role
- 8+ years as a product designer, user experience designer, design lead, or similar role
- Experience providing direction that helps designers grow their skills and deliver their best work
- Experience developing systems, processes, and documentation
- Strong communication skills verbal, written, and visual
- A skilled relationship builder who works effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams
- Experience presenting strategies and approaches to partners and bringing them along
- Skilled at providing design mentorship and coaching to help others meet design quality standards
- Ability to make effective decisions and managing multiple projects at once
- An exceptional partner to engineering and ops for planning to strategy to feasibility
- Experience with A/B testing, usability testing, and other methods of evaluating quality
- Experience with leading design in agile development environments
