Job Overview
Applied Systems, Inc., a worldwide leader in insurance technology, is currently searching for a UX Designer to lead designs for a number of products that enable insurance agencies to provide their insured clients with digital, self-service solutions. This UX Designer will be driving projects across multiple products, have an equal seat at the table with Product and Development, conduct primary user research, explore user requirements, vet user scenarios, sketch, mock-up and prototype solutions – all with the end goal of creating an amazing end user experience throughout our suite of products for insureds.
What You’ll Do
- Develop a strong understanding of the insurance vertical and our users’ needs and motivations to advocate for the users
- Proactively take initiative to push projects forward to completion, own the details, and quickly become an expert
- Promote product consistency across the platform(s)
- Identify how to best integrate usage analytics into our product that will generate data to help us track and measure the success of our designs
- Lead collaborative ideation and discovery sessions with product and development

- Conduct mixed-method research with stakeholders and users to acquire both attitudinal and behavioral user data

- Conduct usability testing with customers to evaluate and iterate on your designs

What You’ll Need to Succeed
We’re looking for someone who:
- Can work remotely or from an Applied Systems office
- Ability to travel (post-COVID-19)
Your experience should include some or all of the following:
- 2+ years working in UX, with a portfolio of examples of successful user research-driven design for B2B enterprises software or SaaS products
- Experience with Design discovery
- Understanding of user experience methodologies and design principles
- Experience with research methodologies such as user observation, user interview, usability testing, card sorts, persona development, user journeys, and surveys
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and assist direct reports as needed
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, reasoning, and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills that promote idea-sharing and knowledge transfer
- Experience with UI design and managing design at scale using design systems.
- Excellent planning, time management, and organizational skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the areas of Information Science, Computer Science, or related disciplines

Responsibilities
- Data Requirements Gathering: Engage with stakeholders to understand their data needs and requirements. Conduct interviews, workshops, and meetings to elicit and document clear and comprehensive data requirements.

Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, with a focus on data requirements and analysis.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, data analysis techniques, and data governance principles.
- Experience with creating and maintaining data dictionaries or data catalogs.
- Proficiency in mapping UI components to reports and underlying databases.
- Knowledge of SQL and database querying.

The Team
The FP&A team at Upstart plays an integral part in the company’s business and financial planning process. As a Senior Financial Analyst at Upstart, you will drive and support all aspects of FP&A which includes in-depth financial and business planning, collaborating with business leaders across the company, and driving analyses for business and strategic cases. Position Location – This role is available in the following locations: Remote, USA
Travel Requirements – This team has regular onsite collaboration sessions. These occur 4 days per Month if you are in San Mateo, or 2-3 consecutive days per Quarter at either the San Mateo or Columbus office if you are remote. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Finance partner to the Auto team, leading the forecast and planning cycles with key business partners as well as overseeing other opex functions
- End to end ownership of the Auto P&L model for revenue, margin, and expenses, driving financial accountability and transparency
- Manage operating expense budgets, working closely with department team leads to set, monitor, and manage budget
- Partner and collaborate with leadership team in planning strategic direction across the Auto Retail and Auto Refinance products, operations, sales and marketing
- Support financial analysis for new product and pricing initiatives and build key metrics analysis
- Create reports and dashboards in BI tools such as Looker to monitor financial trends and relevant metrics and report on key insights
- Support month-end and quarter-end processes, working closely with Accounting to understand key variances, summarize and present the results to the Finance Leadership
- Prepare executive summaries with monthly results and key stats and communicate findings of monthly budget analysis to functional leadership
- Support key corporate financial deliverables as needed, such as earnings preparation and monthly business reviews
What we’re looking for:
Minimum qualifications:
- BS/MS Degree in Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Statistics or equivalent practical experience
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant FP&A experiences
- Highly competent in Excel and/or Google Sheets: excellent modeling skills and ability to perform complex analyses with big data sets required
- Proven track record in demonstrating well-developed strategic, analytical, interpersonal, organizational and communications skills
- Excellent presentation skills and comfort in communicating with multiple levels of leadership

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
The Quality Assurance Analyst (Deployment) is responsible for daily review of websites following an established framework and recording any issues found during the review along with reviewing fixes implemented or feedback provided by the project teams. The Quality Assurance team (Deployment) reviews all websites during the build process to ensure each site meets Finalsite’s standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review websites based on established frameworks including core functionality, application of styling, and accessibility across multiple browsers, operating systems and mobile devices/platforms
- Report issues to project teams in clear and concise manner, including links, description of issue and screenshot or video as needed
- Communicate in a timely and professional manner with each project team including project manager, developer, designer and contractors
- Maintain timely return of projects on a daily basis to ensure scheduled tasks are performed as scheduled
- Escalate recurring or concerning issues to Delivery QA team lead or manager.
- Create and communicate a daily schedule for the QA team based on projects scheduled using Finalsite’s project management platform and messages from project team members
- Regularly check on projects of projects in the QA phase to ensure timely progress through the QA process toward approval
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred., or commensurate experience.
- Detail-oriented, with the intelligence, persistence, and creativity to appropriately and thoroughly test software
- Able to think like an end-user and critically evaluate website features and their implementation to maximize customer satisfaction
- Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills in a web based environment
- Experience reviewing sites for compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
