The User Experience (UX) Designer uses user-centered design methods to craft user experiences from concept to execution and collaborates to build beautiful, innovative, and inspired products and experiences. You will have extensive knowledge of methods pertaining to user research, user experience design, and customer experience (CX). The User Experience Designer leads multiple design projects focused on identifying causes of variance in experience across product areas, generates user experience design work informed by research to generate measurable equitable outcomes, and shares best practices with cross-functional teams across SNHU.

The UX Designer focuses on delivering a best-in-class customer experience that enables student and staff success at every online touch point across platforms. You will support platform functionality and learning experiences, including ADA compliance, with emphasis on the portal capabilities. The UX Designer works closely with Student Experience teams, Marketing, Academics, and other teams at SNHU to help define, align, and execute on the overall user engagement strategy and solutions. The UX Designer delivers value to the university by optimizing learner and staff experiences, driving desired behaviors and outcomes, and strengthening the SNHU brand at every interaction opportunity.

The User Experience Designer will report to the Senior Director Customer Experience Insights and is a remote friendly position (#LI-Remote)

In this Role:

  • You will interact closely with a distributed team of UX Researchers, Product Owners, Project Managers, and stakeholders to develop effective, compelling, innovative customer experiences across platforms.
  • You will design user scenarios, interactions and workflows through mockups, prototypes, wireframes, storyboards etc.
  • You will create sophisticated and intuitive user experiences taking the business requirements and technical constraints into consideration.
  • You will contribute, develop, and follow detailed technical specifications associated with UX design.
  • You will contribute to and promote adoption of design patterns, standards, and systems to deliver seamless digital experiences across the touchpoints of the customer journey.
  • You will educate teams on the value of UX best practices while contributing to the group’s shared knowledge of user-centered design and research methodologies.
  • You will support all aspects of design production, including presentations, to take projects from concept to completion.

What we’re Looking For:

  • Years of relevant or specific experience: 3 plus years’ experience as a UX designer or similar role, with demonstrated expertise in websites, mobile apps, software applications, or products.
  • Academic Degree(s) and/ areas of study: Bachelor’s degree in design related field. Equivalent of experience in lieu of degree acceptable.
  • Knowledge of and experience in WCAG 2.0 Level AA compliance Online design portfolio.
  • Knowledge of and experience in UX core competencies including common UX research practices (surveys, interviews, analytics review, card sorting, tree testing, Lean UX facilitation, and usability testing) as well as experience delivering UX artifacts including personas, information architecture, wireframes, customer journey maps, and workflows.
  • Proficiency in one or more visual design programs such as Creative Cloud, Sketch, Figma, etc.
  • Experience delivering A/B testing and website redesign.
  • Familiar with latest design trends across web and mobile platforms, and ability to adopt modern techniques as appropriate.
  • Ability to design simple and elegant experiences that scale across a sophisticated suite of products.
  • Experience guiding and influencing development teams on design decisions and trade-offs by developing a shared understanding.
