We’re looking for an entrepreneurial and strategic Product leader to join as our Director of Product, Platform with a passion for system-level thinking, a grounding in metrics, and a talent for stakeholder partnership. ezCater is growing rapidly and maturing our technology, which means you have the opportunity to make a significant impact as you guide the platform vision. You’ll be responsible for highly strategic foundational entities such as customers, caterers, menus, and orders, and build out the platform components and APIs that enable ezCater to scale and innovate. Your customers are the ezCater tech and product teams, as well as executive stakeholders across the business, and you’ll help balance between data-driven decision making and delivering results to meet strategic goals while shaping the future of our platform.

What You’ll Do:

  • Drive the long-term strategy, business goals, and priorities for the platform roadmap in deep partnership with product and engineering leadership
  • Build and lead a team of talented PMs to build ezCater’s platform and take it to the next level to unlock innovation across our products and on behalf of our customers
  • Build empathy for your internal stakeholders, and well as ezCater customers & catering partners
  • Work closely with product and engineering leadership peers across the product portfolio and across all stages of the product development process to ensure we’re focused on building the right long term solutions
  • Serve as the Product leadership subject matter expert on restaurant technology
  • Collaborate with peers and leaders across Design, Research, Engineering, Analytics, DS/ML and other Product teams in a fast-paced, agile-inspired environment
  • Work with your team to analyze data on existing challenges to engineering efficiency and product innovation, as well as business and operations pain points, and develop a roadmap that solves the needs
  • Create and monitor the ongoing metrics that define success of the ezCater Platform
  • Have fun building meaningful software with awesome people

What You Have:

  • 8+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years managing a team or teams of high performing Platform or Technical Product Managers, ideally in eCommerce or marketplace businesses
  • Goal orientation and demonstrated record collaborating with engineering teams to deliver effective platform solutions
  • A penchant for operational excellence across complex and highly technical domains, along with deep comfort defining and working with APIs that meet the needs of our evolving and expanding product and business portfolio
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills; you’re happy and capable partnering with remote team members, managing expectations, and bringing your partners along on the product journey
  • Strong analytical and qualitative data skills that give you the ability to separate the signal from the noise and inform data driven decisions

JOB SUMMARY

As a senior/principal software engineer on the Platform Team at Code.org, you’ll deliver software products and operate services used by tens of millions of students and teachers in K-12 classrooms around the world. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of our engineering team, you will:

  • Own projects and build features end to end, working on exciting technical challenges using some of the latest technologies.
  • Work across the engineering organization to help set the technical direction for the Code.org platform, as well as contribute to our architecture working groups.
  • Work with your product manager and internal customers (other engineers) to identify current limitations or new features that deserve attention to enable the best experience possible for our students and teachers.
  • Explore and contribute to our efforts to incorporate AI in all aspects of our product and curriculum
  • Create and expand the foundational concepts and components in our system necessary to support our ever-expanding set of course and features
  • Ship software regularly while maintaining excellent live site availability.
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to an inclusive, growth-focused, and collaborative team culture.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

We seek candidates who have:

  • Passion for our mission of growing access to computer science education
  • Passion for learning and exploring new technologies, building processes and tooling to multiply the team’s output, and looking for ways to improve not only what we build, but how we build and operate it.
  • Experience with building the foundational elements of a consumer-grade web applications with JavaScript and React, and ideally with TypeScript, Ruby on Rails, and MySQL
  • Experience supporting a production high-scale web-based software product or service using cloud technologies (ideally AWS)
  • Experience in both working independently on and leading larger investigations and implementation efforts. This includes the ability to break down project work into smaller features, communicate status updates effectively, and propose improvements to execution plans.
  • Experience leading architectural change from conception to execution identifying opportunities, seeking input, setting technical direction, and garnering support from stakeholders.
  • A product and team-first mindset where success is measured by the team’s delivery, execution, and health
  • A desire to improve how we work and aren’t afraid to suggest changes to existing patterns.
  • A bias for action that moves implementation forward, knowing how to balance planning and execution.
