A DAY IN THE LIFE
Our Brownfields & Community Revitalization – Principal Planner (Senior Environmental Professional) role is a REMOTE position open to candidates throughout the Western U.S., with preference given to candidates who reside in and/or have significant experience in executing projects in Washington and/or Alaska.
As a key member of the Montrose Environmental Solutions team, this role will be responsible for a full range of activities, including:
- Planning lead/project manager/grant administrator for multiple Brownfield & Environmental Justice (EJ) grant-funded projects throughout the western U.S.
- Planning, executing, and/or overseeing site-specific reuse and/or area-wide planning/design activities and/or related studies.
- Leads or supports community engagement activities, including facilitating stakeholder roundtables, community surveys, and other outreach activities related to revitalization planning.
- Exercise safe work practices by following all Montrose and client safety rules and OSHA regulations, including attendance at all required safety training programs.
- Estimates personnel needs, assigns work, meets completion dates, interprets, and ensures consistent application of firm standards.

- Managing external auditor relationship for US GAAP audit of income taxes
- Managing the team (internal and external) to deliver all US income tax reporting including federal, state and US international tax returns.
- Improving standardization/automation in the US tax compliance process and driving continuous process improvements to streamline the global tax accounting process. Overseeing controls and ensuring processes, documentation and related systems are in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements.
- Ensuring analytics and accuracy of the reported effective tax rate components as well as the forecasted effective tax rate and cash taxes globally.
- Championing operational excellence through process improvement, leveraging best practices, supporting the evolution of tax software tools, and promoting automation and technology to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Building and managing a global tax operations function with heavy emphasis on establishing efficient processes informed by multinational corporate experience and best practices.
