Administrative Assistant Responsibilities

  • Use the internet and social media to find subjects and sources for stories
  • Organize and update multiple content calendars
  • Keep track of freelancer due dates and assignments
  • Handle multiple projects at one time
  • Write letters and emails on behalf of editorial director
  • Provide polite and professional communication
  • Perform additional tasks as needed by the editorial team

Details

WHAT YOU’LL DO

The Cut is looking for an editorial assistant to help and assist Lindsay Peoples, EIC to The Cut, as well as the fashion and news team. Ideally, your job would be a mixture of administrative tasks like organizing calendars, and expenses, as well as writing regularly for the blog to produce short stories, help build stories in CMS, and work with our style team to assist on shoots as well as production of the magazine both in digital and in print. It’s a great opportunity to work closely with many writers and editors at the senior level across The Cut’s departments.

We’re looking for someone who obsessively follows the news (from politics to celebrity) and knows what makes a Cut story. You should have strong news judgment, a thorough understanding of SEO, and a good sense of humor!

WHO YOU ARE

Responsibilities:

  • Work with The Cut EIC and Fashion director as well as senior editors on administrative tasks
  • Write up to 3 blog posts a week, aiming to engage readers with the Cut’s tone
  • Pitch regularly in Cut ideas meetings,
  • Manage the calendars, expenses, any administrative duties that our managing editor needs help
  • Closely follow politics, culture trends, and celebrity news
  • Be actively monitoring social media to keep on top of breaking news and current trends

Prerequisites:

  • 2 years of experience as an assistant
  • Ability to work independently
  • Write quickly and cleanly
  • Experience with SEO
  • Strong understanding of Cut tone and sensibility

PAY TRANSPARENCY

The salary range listed below represents the minimum and maximum base pay for this position at the time of this posting. Final salary offered to the candidate selected for the position will be based on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s skills and experience.

Job Description

The Digital Transformation UX Analyst role, within the Innovation and Emerging Payment Products team, will join a team of experienced product managers striving to engage our fintech partners by building a digital, end-to-end, self-service experience for Discover’s fintech partners who wish to explore, test, onboard, and go live with products that leverage Discover’s API product portfolio. This role will be critical to helping Discover design and build user experiences for partners who wish to leverage Discover’s API-driven products digitally transforming internal processes.

Responsible for capturing stakeholder feature requests, analyze processes, and design workflows at a high level. Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.

  • Develops design concepts, wireframes, prototypes, usage scenarios, task analysis, specifications and other UX/UI design deliverables.
  • Defines and implements systematic approach to create clean and functional UI.
  • Participates in the product definition process with the team and drive the clarification of the user tasks and objectives.
  • Understands target users’ needs, motivations, and behaviors as it relates to a specific project or area.
  • Balances technical and delivery constraints when creating accessible and engaging user interfaces based on complex requirements and tight deadlines.
  • Utilizes Usability testing or A/B testing to present and validate design solutions.
  • Articulates user experience design issues effectively. Presents and builds consensus around design thinking and rationale with peers and stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, here’s what we need from you:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Graphic Design or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in UX Design or Information Architecture or related
  • In lieu of education, 8+ years of experience in UX Design or Information Architecture or related

Preferred Qualifications
