If you would like to join us, we are looking for an Engineering Manager who will manage a full stack software development squad responsible for developing both the front-end and back-end aspects of our applications. It is important to note that this is a senior level engineering position that requires significant hands-on code and architecture level engagement while also managing a very small number (2-3) of direct reports. As such, we expect you would typically spend about 60% of your time in hands-on development and the other 40% of your time leading a team.

About You:

  • Strong technical expertise in full stack software development, with proficiency in front-end technologies such as React, VueJS, and Angular, as well as back-end technologies including NodeJS, ExpressJS API, MySQL, AWS, Redis, Postgres, and MongoDB
  • Appreciates the hands-on nature of leading in a small company
  • Proven experience leading and managing software development teams, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and fostering a collaborative environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into scalable and efficient software solutions

About the Role:

  • Partnering closely with a Product Manager and Designer in empowering the team to discover, test, deliver and measure technology solutions to enhance our member experiences and deliver on critical business objectives
  • Managing and leading a full stack software development squad, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and support to foster team success, a collaborative work environment, and individual career progression
  • Planning and executing software development projects, inspiring the team towards ambitious goals and creative solutions to meet them, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software releases
  • Overseeing the front-end and back-end development processes, ensuring adherence to best practices, coding standards, and performance optimization
  • Conducting code reviews, providing feedback to team members, and ensuring the overall code quality
  • Collaborating with the other team leads, and our Platform team, to advance our architecture, lead toward clear development standards, and optimize our deployment processes to ensure efficient delivery of software releases
  • Identifying opportunities for process improvement, implementing best practices, and driving innovation within the team
  • Regularly evaluates the latest technologies and trends in software development for potential application within the team’s projects

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in full stack software development
  • 2+ years of experience developing cloud native applications on AWS
  • 2+ years of experience leading and managing software development teams
  • Strong proficiency in front-end technologies such as React, VueJS, and Angular
  • Solid experience with back-end technologies including NodeJS, ExpressJS API, MySQL, AWS, Redis, Postgres, and MongoDB
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies, test-driven development, best practices, and coding standards
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

The Machine Learning Engineer is a contributor who will build, monitor, and maintain Talas core machine learning and causal inference services and tooling.You will own customer-facing real-time streaming feature extraction and model inference, model-related batch compute platforms and jobs, service level objective definition and measurement, root cause analysis, software and architecture design, enterprise technical maturity assessment, highly effective cross-functional collaboration, and mentorship.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop Data Scientist and Analyst-friendly self-service tooling and frameworks to explore new data sources, extract new features, and train, test, deploy, and monitor models.
  • Optimize the model development and software development life cycles.
  • Maximize quality of models, services, and tooling with unit testing, integration testing, dry run and blue-green deployment, infrastructure-as-code, automation, observability, and fault tolerance.
  • Write and review design documents, perform code reviews, and weigh in on implementation choices from other technical teams.
  • Collaborate with and support cross-functional teams (Product, Data Platform, Credit, and Business Development).

What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years of backend software experience in consumer scale applications, at least 4 of them with Python
