We are looking for a highly motivated Staff Software Engineer to build scalable foundational systems and data pipelines to power our financial reporting.

You will partner closely with our Product and Accounting teams to design robust reporting and reconciliation systems, which enable us to operate and forecast with the highest degree of integrity and precision. These systems are responsible for delivering accurate and timely data from Affirm’s suite of financial products, for consumption by our Accounting, Treasury, and Strategic Finance teams.

You will take an active role in collaborating on the roadmap, designing technical solutions, driving and involving in cross-team initiatives. You will partner closely with the Engineering Manager and the team to improve the quality standards and processes in the team and represent the team in cross-team initiatives.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with Product stakeholders to align on roadmaps, strategy, and vision for the Financial Reporting engineering team
  • Lead technical decisions, projects, and roadmaps within the Financial Reporting engineering team & beyond
  • Collaborate with other technical leads, management, and stakeholders across the organization to design and implement solutions that go beyond team scope and require cross-functional collaboration
  • Lead and mentor engineers to help them succeed and grow. Mentor engineers on the team to help improve their designs, code quality, and testing.
  • Partner with product managers and accountants to design best-in-class systems and processes to reconcile and report.
  • Partner with a diverse set of engineering teams who build financial products and perform financial transactions at Affirm.

What We Look For

Senior Product Security Engineer

The Senior Product Security Engineer candidate will have experience building and architecting software as part of a larger team. The ideal candidate will work effectively with product and engineering teams to evaluate and influence product requirements, design, and implementation to improve the security of Affirm’s products.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with Affirm product teams to ensure that security is included in every phase of the product development lifecycle.
  • Conduct threat modeling and architecture reviews to ensure threats are understood, documented, and mitigated.
  • Review and analyze product source code to identify security vulnerabilities and provide recommendations for secure implementation.
  • Seek out opportunities to automate processes when appropriate.
  • Identify emerging classes of vulnerabilities and developing solutions for them before they’re a problem.
  • Assist product teams in the development of security focused test cases to enforce security requirements.
  • Advise product teams on business security requirements early in the product development lifecycle.
  • Decompose large, cross-team projects into individual tasks. Manage scope across teams and drive toward project closure.

What We Look For

  • Deep understanding of web application architecture and design principles.
  • Experience using modern software development and delivery techniques to develop cloud-based services. Python, Kotlin, Java, AWS, and Azure experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of common security flaws and resolution as published by OWASP, SANS, etc.
  • Experience with PCI or other regulated environments.
  • Experience conducting threat models for complex, distributed products using standard threat modeling techniques and methodologies.
  • Experience with standard authentication mechanisms, including SAML and OAuth2.
  • Understanding of continuous integration / continuous deployment processes and tools.
  • BS degree in related field or equivalent experience. MS degree in a related field or equivalent experience is a plus.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform independent challenges of machine learning models used for credit underwriting/credit risk management through thorough validation and ongoing monitoring. Identify model weaknesses and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with model owners to remediate model validation findings
  • Partner cross-functionally to implement and maintain the company’s MRM framework
  • Partner with Internal Audit, Internal Controls, and Compliance to ensure timely resolution of audit and regulatory requests

What We Look For

  • 3-6 years of professional experience in related technical areas such as model development, model validation, data science
  • Deep and broad knowledge of quantitative modeling in relation to credit underwriting and credit risk management
  • Experience with developing models using script languages(e.g., Python) and working with large-scale databases (e.g., SQL)
