Our AI team will work across product boundaries to rapidly prototype the AI products and features that will define the future of technical interviewing for Karat, create a competitive moat for our business, and allow our customers to source, hire, and retain the right talent with increased predictivity, less bias, and previously unimaginable efficiency.

What you will do

As a Principal Data Scientist on the AI team at Karat, you will drive innovation with the purpose of extracting key insights from our data and providing actionable recommendations for innovative products we can build into the Karat platform as we scale. Collaborating with a small team of Engineers, you will innovate on top of Karat’s own and external data, leverage cutting edge AI technology like LLMs, carryout complex analysis, build proofs-of-concept and prototypes, create insight, and build models and products that serve a variety of key end-users in the Interviewing Cloud space.

Karat’s HQ is based in Seattle, Washington, with employees distributed throughout the U.S, Canada, India, and United Kingdom. This position is only available in the United States, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. Immigration sponsorship is available for this role.

  • Contribute to Karat’s AI strategy and initiatives by creating a suite of AI product enhancements that will help to further establish Karat as a thought leader in AI for technical hiring.
  • Lead projects in close partnership with the broader data and engineering teams to increase the signal captured during technical interviews in order to maximize the product value provided to clients.
  • Prototype and build solutions to continuously scale our platform in order to serve a constantly increasing number of interviews with a flexible network.
  • Work hands-on in coding, data preprocessing, feature engineering, model development, and exploratory data analysis.
  • Relied upon by teammates to lead projects and mentor other Data Scientists and Engineers working in the Data Science and AI realms across all teams and products.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand Karat’s business challenges, develop hypotheses, and propose data-driven solutions to those challenges.
  • Present complex findings and insights to non-technical audiences, influencing decision-makers across the organization.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI, and proactively identify opportunities to apply emerging technologies to Karat’s business needs.
  • Lead the dialogue within Karat about AI, Data Science and Machine Learning.

The experience you will bring

  • 12+ years of tech industry experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, AI, or other related roles
  • MS or PHD in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Operations Research, Engineering, a Natural Science or equivalent quantitative subject (or equivalent experience) preferred
  • Strong expertise in programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency in using relevant data science libraries and frameworks.
  • Proven track record leading Data Science, Machine Learning or AI projects that have delivered significant business impact
  • Strong experience leading and mentoring Data Scientists, Machine Learning or AI engineers
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business challenges into data-driven solutions.
  • Deep understanding of statistical analysis, data manipulation, and data visualization techniques.
  • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

The Opportunity

About the role

We are looking for a Product Designer to help us raise $1T for charity. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing new estate planning products with and for financial advisors, attorneys and other professions that steward financial assets. They will play a key part in the development of a B2B commercial partnership and platform. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with client-facing work, who has strong UX/UI design skills and is eager to join a fast-moving startup creating new estate planning products for a social purpose.

This role will report to the Senior Design Manager and is remote. Flexible start date. Unfortunately, we can’t sponsor H1Bs at this time.

FreeWill has set compensation and a non-negotiation policy for fairness reasons (we don’t think that an individual’s pay should be determined by how comfortable they are negotiating). As a result, we like to be transparent and up front about the compensation. When we make an offer, we provide multiple options so that employees can choose between compensation packages that prioritize salary or stock options. The offers for this role will be between $105,000 and $115,000; offers will also include stock options.

Responsibilities

  • Translate product requirements into wireframes, interactive prototypes, and iterate designs as needed to arrive at elegant and clean end-to-end experiences that provide visual consistency.
