The Learning Management System (LMS) Administrator is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation, configuration, and operations of The Nature Conservancy’s learning management system (LMS). They will be responsible for managing and planning the day-to-day functions of designing and implementing system learning solutions within the global community of TNC staff and partners. They will also be responsible for tier 3 system support, training other admins or users how to use the LMS system, provide deep technical support along with data analytics. The LMS administrator will be responsible to lead system upgrades, enhancements, integrations, and migrations as needed.

This position will be the primary system administrator for The Nature Conservancy’s LMS. Working within a team of learning professionals, this position will be the primary resource that investigates and analyzes feasibility of system requirements and develops system specifications solutions.

Responsibilities & Scope

  • Perform regular security monitoring to identify any possible intrusion and ensure the system and processes adhere to IT’s Security protocols.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of all activities including user capacity.
  • Experience manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data, communicating reports, metrics, success criteria, and progression of the platform.
  • Serve as system expert. Train other team members and users (as needed), answer questions, contribute to and maintain FAQs, and serve as point of escalation for support issues, which may include coordination with internal cross functional teams, stakeholders, LMS vendor, and other vendor support services.
  • Assist in the ongoing evaluation effort of our training programs and implement quality and efficiency improvement measures including new approaches and options to increase learner engagement and utilization of the Learning Management platform.
  • Maintain validity and accuracy of course completion process and records.
  • Maintain and define best practices for LMS Admin workflows globally, and document operational procedures regularly.
  • Manage 3rd party courseware integration.
  • Perform troubleshooting as required. Ensure the platform is user-friendly and functioning consistently. Own the deep dive into system issues, SCORM/content file problems. Be proactive for problem solving and learn from the identified issues over time and implement solutions to ensure we do not experience repeated issues.
  • Maintain operational, configuration or other procedures.
  • Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
  • Build out complex training programs.
  • Provide communications on upgrades, modifications, scheduled downtime, or overall user impacts related to the LMS.
  • Act independently and exercise independent judgment to identify and solve complex problems; work checked through consultation and agreement with others rather than by directives of superiors.
  • Take leadership role on interdepartmental teams to coordinate the work of peers.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years related experience or equivalent combination, including working on the design of classroom and online instructional programs.
  • Minimum of 1.5 years as an LMS Administrator with learning management systems.
  • Experience with xAPI integration.
  • Daily system monitoring experience – verifying the integrity and availability of the system, key processes, reviewing system logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups or imports.

Desired Qualifications

  • Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Moodle/Totara and/or Workday LMS experience a plus.

What You’ll Be Doing

Pre-Sales Support:

  • Collaborating with stakeholders, including business users and technical teams, to understand their requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Participating in technical discovery, use case development, and other business and technical requirements development
  • Supporting all technical aspects of assigned sales pursuits including customer education, introductory meetings, product and solution briefings, proof-of-concept work, etc.

What You’ll Bring
