Staff Product Designer, Lending

About the Role

Title: Staff Product Designer, Lending

Location: United States

Job Description:

It all started with an idea at Block in 2013. Initially built to take the pain out of peer-to-peer payments, Cash App has gone from a simple product with a single purpose to a dynamic ecosystem, developing unique financial products, including Afterpay/Clearpay, to provide a better way to send, spend, invest, borrow and save to our 47 million monthly active customers. We want to redefine the world’s relationship with money to make it more relatable, instantly available, and universally accessible.

Today, Cash App has thousands of employees working globally across office and remote locations, with a culture geared toward innovation, collaboration and impact. We’ve been a distributed team since day one, and many of our roles can be done remotely from the countries where Cash App operates. No matter the location, we tailor our experience to ensure our employees are creative, productive, and happy.

The Role

We are looking for a Product Designer to join our growing Lending design team, which sits within our Financial Products vertical. The Financial Products team is committed to bringing financial freedom to all our customers. We focus on the core of Cash App’s mission-redefining the world’s relationship with money. We pride ourselves in rethinking established paradigms and bringing creative solutions into existence in the financial space.

Lending’s charter is to design simple, useful, and delightful experiences that maximize trust and expand access to our Lending products. This role demands a dynamic balance: diving into hands-on design for a variety of practical projects-ranging from expanding access to Borrow, growing our ecosystem of Lending products, and integrating Afterpay on Cash App Card.

Product designers at Cash App take a product, feature, or experience from ideation to production. This includes vision-setting, designing solutions, prototyping, bringing along cross-functional teams, overseeing implementation, and collaborating with other designers, researchers, product managers, analysts, and engineers.

You Will

  • Be accountable for the craft of the experiences and interfaces that our customers interact with
  • Promote an inclusive environment for creativity and growth, and facilitate connections across teams and disciplines
  • Make strategic design decisions as a partner to Business, Product and Eng and be a voice for leveraging design across the organization
  • Bring comfort and expertise in technical environments, including knowledge of the mobile client-side development process
  • Be an influential voice alongside peers in Product, Engineering, Data Science and Customer Insights

You Have

  • A passion for turning complex problems into simple and engaging solutions
  • An innate understanding of the end-to-end design process – from identifying customer needs and pain points to delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Ability to bring ideas to life in prototypes to enhance the customer story
  • Ability to apply consumer insights and metrics to inform design decisions and influence the product roadmap
  • Ability to interpret data and informed design decisions based on both qualitative and quantitative insights
  • Comfort with an iterative design process that includes solisticing and acting on feedback as needed
  • Strong systems thinker with the ability to connect the dots across the entire customer journey
  • Experience designing for multiple platforms, including mobile (both iOS and Android) and web
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to influence outcomes
  • Lead with the voice of the customer and have a deep understanding of human-centered design principles
