Job Summary

Regrow is looking for a Senior Scientist to develop and implement algorithms, primarily in Python to advance sustainable agricultural practices worldwide. You will be working closely with our environmental modeling team and remote sensing teams to advance the DNDC model.

What you will do:

  • Work with the DNDC science and remote sensing science teams to develop and implement algorithms that will help improve soil management practices nationally and internationally
  • Analyze large remotely sensed, geospatial datasets for agriculture and rangeland applications
  • Develop and implement algorithms that support measurement, reporting and verification of carbon and ecosystem service outcomes to support natural climate solutions
  • Develop techniques for rapid soil carbon and soil nitrogen quantification. ,
  • Research the impacts of soil biogeochemical cycles and farm management practices on mitigating the impacts of climate change on agriculture
  • Work closely with engineering to implement and parametrize mechanistic models (DNDC) to scale internationally
  • Assist with the development of case studies and reports by providing insight into soil health and soil carbon processes modeled by DNDC

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D Degree in earth systems science, environmental science, natural resources, carbon cycle science, or related fields
  • Excellent programming skills in Python, and C++ or C# or C or FORTRAN
  • Significant experience with soil carbon measurement and modeling using DNDC, DAYCENT, MEMS or similar models
  • Experience working in a team and ability to work with people from a variety of backgrounds, including software engineers, scientists and business teams
  • The ability to translate your technical knowledge into insights accessible for our team and our customers

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with Linux/Unix, cloud computing, and version control
  • Experience in modeling yield and productivity resilience based on soil and environmental drivers.
  • Experience with open-source geospatial libraries, e.g. GDAL, OGR, Fiona, Shapely
  • Experience and interest in agriculture, geography, process-based modeling
  • Experience developing applications independently, as well as in a team
  • Experience with software development life cycle

  • Collaborate with product managers, backend engineers, and data science engineers to spec, build, test and deploy code in Regrow largest and fastest growing technology team

  • Be responsible for developing new areas of the product, with an eye towards long-term sustainability.
  • You’ll expertly review code, have your code reviewed, and mentor other engineers

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience building and deploying high-quality production services primarily in Python
  • Proven experience creating and deploying REST APIs with Python Web Frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, Django, etc.
  • You are good with data. Considerable commercial experience with relational databases i.e MySQL, Postgres, etc, or a document database like MongoDB.
  • Experience deploying apps/services on at least one major enterprise cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
  • You are comfortable with the nuts and bolts of systems programming in the Linux environment (shell/bash scripting)
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Excellent English language presentation and communication skills

Your Responsibilities as a Project Accounting Analyst:

Project Set-up & Maintenance

  • Ensure Projects are set-up in the accounting system in accordance with the client contract in a timely manner.
  • Review and ensure contract terms agree to information provided on Project Set-up form (PSF).
  • Maintain project-related records, including contracts, change orders, PSF and other project related documents.
  • Ensure billing rates are set-up in accordance with the contract and/or company guidelines.
  • Ensure change orders are processed timely.
  • Assist project managers to ensure revenue and cost budgets are set-up properly.
  • Close out projects timely upon completion.

Invoicing

  • Review project expenses and ensure they are reflected correctly and calculating at correct rates.
  • Establish a regular routine for preparing invoices and submitting to project managers for review and approval.
  • Ensure all invoices and billings are prepared in accordance with contract and/or company guidelines.
  • Ensure all invoices are posted into the accounting system when submitted to clients
  • Reconcile all unbilled (WIP) or deferred (negative WIP) balances monthly and address or elevate accordingly.
  • Ensure subcontractor invoices are entered timely and paid according to APEX’s pay-when-paid policy/guidance.

Collections

  • Establish a regular routine for courtesy follow-ups on invoices submitted to clients.
  • Review past-due invoices on a weekly basis with project managers and determine a plan of action for following up with the client. This should include documenting actions taken.
  • Coordinate with Corporate Receivable Staff regarding collections.
  • Track retainers and application of retainers to projects.

Monitor Projects and Project Financials

  • Review and work with project/division managers on an on-going basis to address the following:
  • Negative Backlog – Projects where JTD revenue exceeds budget.
  • WIP balances determine the cause and resolution of any WIP balances after billings are complete and elevate to management as needed.
  • Inactive project review inactive projects or projects without activity for an extended period and if WIP and A/R balances are clear, complete or close-out as appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate cost and revenue accruals on projects, and research any discrepancies
  • Understand and validate appropriate revenue recognition on projects.

Other Responsibilities

  • Compile information for internal and external auditors as required.
  • Attend project reviews and meetings regarding your projects (financial information or discussions).
  • Support project managers on any project-related financial activities.
  • Support and develop ad-hoc reports as needed for management.
  • Support compliance on corporate initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively with other project team members, and elevate concerns to management.
  • Supervise/manage helpers who will assist as needed in all above responsibilities.
  • Support other ad hoc tasks as deemed necessary.

The Project Manager will be responsible for leading complex, enterprise-level projects from initiation to execution, ensuring that all project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track. This position will be initially focused on leading the Global eLearning project. The goal of this project is to launch a global eLearning product built upon a learning management system.

This individual will leverage advanced proficiency with project management principles and methodologies to design, launch and manage the Global eLearning project within the organization’s project management framework and best practices to be shortly launched by a newly built out Project Management Office. Responsibilities include development of a robust project management plan, project stewardship towards achievement of project deliverables, preparation of status reports, and establishment of effective project communication plans. The project manager will also ensure proper tracking of budgets, resource utilization, and forecasts to support the objectives of the project.

This position will promote the empowerment of the project team to ensure each team member is fully engaged in the assigned project(s) and assists in team development while holding teams accountable for their commitments, removing roadblocks to their work, and leveraging organizational resources to improve capacity for project work.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management (55%)

Assists in defining project scope and schedule while focusing on regular and timely delivery of value; organizes and leads project status and working meetings; prepares and distributes progress reports; manages risks and issues; corrects deviations from plans; and performs delivery planning for assigned projects, including but not limited to:

  • Uses project management processes and methodologies to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations.
