The Marketing Technology team is responsible for driving efficient and sustainable Guest and Host growth throughout the lifecycle. The team supports $XB of marketing investments across a portfolio of channels. We build products that allow us to reach more audiences, improve our targeting, and optimize our bidding.

The Difference You Will Make:

We are looking for a Senior Staff Data Scientist to lead the innovation efforts to build and evolve the measurement of our marketing investment, the optimization of campaign strategies, and ML/AI powered solutions to drive higher efficiency. The role emphasizes technical excellence and driving business impact with state-of-the-art science.

The position offers the opportunity to make tremendous impacts by driving and implementing the science roadmap on an integrated system of tools for measurement, targeting and optimization. As a result, the ideal candidate will demonstrate to be a marketing research domain expert, have strong knowledge of causal inference and expertise to bring in cutting edge methodologies, and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders and external vendors. In addition, a successful candidate will be able to influence these technical and non-technical partners in order to achieve the best outcome for Airbnb and its customers.

A Typical Day:

  • Leverage first party and third party data and observational study methods to estimate the impact of media.
  • Understand the network effect of marketing across different media.
  • Develop short-term proxies for marketing’s long term impacts.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership:
    • Drive projects spanning multiple products and areas. Provide thought leadership to the team both strategically and technically. Be able to drive a roadmap and provide mentorship to team members.
    • Proactively identifies under-invested areas with opportunities. Get resources to work on new projects. Creates a vision and structure for self, when one is not provided.
    • Often present papers at top tier conferences, and/or publish in top outlets.
    • Drive innovations that can potentially lead to patents.
  • Influence: Drive alignments on long term data driven marketing strategy across with leadership from different organizations, cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Inference: Identify the right solution and think out of the box to tackle large, open ended, critical or foundational causal inference problems with or without known solutions, such as modeling the long term effect of marketing on brand value and equity, estimating the effect of Airbnb’s advertising mix, understanding interactions between Guest and Host marketing, supply/demand dynamics etc.
  • Experimentation: Design and analyze experiments to measure the effectiveness of our digital marketing spend, addressing biases due to privacy regulations.
  • Insights: Generate insights about customer segments and the company’s most valuable guests to improve ad effectiveness and optimize spend.
  • Communication: Work closely with a range of stakeholders to design and implement measurement of brand marketing campaigns.
  • Empowerment: Think strategically about opportunities to improve and scale our brand measurement and customer insights.

Your Expertise:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field. PhD is a plus.
  • 12+ years of industry experience with a Masters, or 7+ years with a PhD.
  • Domain knowledge in Marketing measurement and modeling, AI/ML solutions in marketing (i.e. Media Mix Models, Causal ML, GAI, LLM)
  • Strong domain knowledge of Bayesian modeling, causal inference, experimentation and quasi-experimental methods.
  • Skilled in statistical programming (Python or R) and database usage (SQL)
  • Ability to solve business problems using appropriate methods and models
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to cross functional partners of varying technical levels and drive impact

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Economics, Statistics, Marketing, or related field
  • Passion for marketing and consumer science; a desire to keep up with and find opportunities to apply academic research
  • Deep understanding of the external marketing platforms’ systems.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Professional Services Associate that has a passion for delighting customers by delivering winning strategies and solutions. We work with mid-market organizations and large enterprises in all verticals, with a focus on their GRC activities.

How you’ll spend your time:

  • Provide end-to-end support for post-implementation customer professional service requests including requirements exploration, project management, and solution execution

The Senior Manager, Resource Management is a newly created role, designed to connect JFF people resources to project work. Working cross-functionally across the organization, your role will be essential in collecting and maintaining critical people resource data for JFF s newly formed Solutions Design & Delivery (SD&D) teams. As part of the growing JFF Resource Management team, you will develop and manage utilization targets, analyze resource capacity and demand by project, skillset, role, and level and complete resource forecasts identifying and solving for resource demand peaks and valleys proactively.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new function at JFF, essential to meeting our project goals. The role is remote based and reports to the Sr. Director of Resource Management.

What you’ll do:

Resource Allocation:

  • Respond and fulfill resource staffing requests and capacity availability requests and ensure project staffing needs are matched with the best available resource.
  • Track and maintain resource assignments and allocations.
  • Partner with Field Implementation Team leaders to ensure the proactive assignment of team members to projects and the timely resolution of resources over or under utilization.
  • Develop staffing action plans for leaves of absences, transfers, promotions, etc.
  • Manage the SD&D teams’ skills and interest survey data; complete skills data analysis and define action plans to resolve skills gaps to ensure sufficient capacity and timing to support projects.

Strategic and Analytical Thinking:

  • Create reporting and visuals to display role and skill demand, capacity, utilization rates targets, and other resourcing and skills information.
  • Analyze data to identify bottlenecks and risks and help develop action plans to resolve resourcing issues.
  • Identify patterns in data and potential causes for concerns such as under/over-utilization of resources.
  • Create and deliver reports that forecast upcoming staffing needs and identify any skills gaps in JFF resource pools and departments.
  • Aggregate data across several JFF systems to develop resourcing data and insights; share and present these insights across JFF to ensure sufficient staff to deliver JFF project and grant/award commitments on time and within appropriate cost levels.
  • Analyze project resourcing actuals versus plan with the goal of improving accuracy of project resourcing estimates by departments and improving delivery.

Relationship Building:

  • Work closely with Development and Practice or Center leaders to capture proposal resource demand estimates and apply this data to the Resource forecasting processes.
  • Partner with SD&D leadership and the People & Culture team to optimize staff headcount and planning decisions.
  • Partner with the Project Management & Execution team to align on project updates (start/end dates, staffing needs, change request impacts, etc.), project risks, etc., to mitigate risks associated with project staffing.

Growth and Learning Mindset:

  • Help develop, improve and evolve Resource Management processes at JFF. Most notably this role will play a critical role in standing up, administering, and support training for a new Resource Management tool for JFF.
  • Document and communicate Resource Management processes for use across JFF, including management of the team SharePoint Site and developing Resource Management communications to be displayed in monthly newsletters.

Who you are:

  • You have five to ten years of overall work experience and 1 – 3 years of experience in Resource Management or a related field.
  • RMCP certification is preferred, but not required.
  • You bring strong analytical skills including intermediate to advanced level Excel proficiency (e.g., comfort with pivot tables, V-lookups, H-lookups, charting and trending data, etc.), and the ability to find insights and trends in data and define meaningful actions in response to findings.
  • You bring strengths in verbal and written communication with experience presenting to leadership and collaborating across a matrixed organization to problem solve talent and people resource challenges.
