Job Overview

We are looking for a DevOps Engineer with security experience to join our passionate DevOps team ensuring the smooth operation and security of the VRChat infrastructure. In this role you’ll be accountable for the uptime, security, proper operation and cost effectiveness of our infrastructure supporting millions of active users and petabytes of UGC content.

The role reports to the VP of Engineering at VRChat. This Engineer will work closely with the IT and Development teams, as well as the heads of various functions to plan and deploy infrastructure.

Duties & Responsibilities

    • Day to day operation and maintenance of our infrastructure to keep our services running with high reliability, security and cost effectiveness
    • Incident management and root cause analysis, sometimes during off hours
    • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of robust security controls and practices
    • Design, plan and implementation of IT infrastructure in a hybrid cloud environment to support the evolution of our platform
    • Automate and improve our monitoring systems and tools
    • Coordination and communication within the team and with internal stakeholders
    • Work with external vendors to resolve issues and coordinate projects

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

    • Proven experience (8+ years) in a DevOps role, within a high-growth consumer-facing company, preferably in a fast-paced startup environment
    • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform and OpenTofu
    • Experience with highly reliable networking and tools such as Wireguard and Tailscale
    • Experience with content delivery & CDNs
    • Knowledge of setup, configuration and operation of data stores such as MongoDB & Redis
    • Experience participating in proactive system hardening, engaging in technical security audits, and threat-hunting across multiple interconnected systems
    • Experience in rapidly responding to and mitigating operational & security incidents, including coordinating with internal security, legal, and public relations teams
    • Strong knowledge of web application, API security and scripting knowledge, including Node.js & Golang
    • Experience with realtime multiplayer game engines, Photon or other real-time networking, MMORPG or C# application security is desirable.
    • Familiarity with common Cybersecurity and Information Technology frameworks and standards such as MITRE ATT&CK, COBIT, and ITIL. 
    • Knowledge of ISO27001/27002, SOC2, IG2 certifications and standards
    • Preferably expertise in building security infrastructure that conforms to FTC guidance and international privacy laws such as the GDPR

The successful Sr. Clinical Research Specialist main role in fulfilling this goal is to conduct and facilitate research projects that are both self-initiated and driven as well to support collaborations in partnership with members of other Ambry scientific departments and with external collaborators who use Ambry data and expertise.

The specialist is responsible for supporting Ambry’s strategic roadmap as it relates to research around technological advances in partnership with scientists in Research & Development. The Specialist will also work cross-functionally with other members of the Clinical Research team, the Clinical Strategy Managers and the Field Teams to identify and vet research projects.
