UI-UX Designer

Job Description

UI-UX Designer

Location: Remote United States

About Vouch:

Insurance… sounds slow, old-fashioned, and unexciting. Exactly. Insurance is broken, and it’s failing fast-moving, innovative startups.

Vouch is a new, technology-first insurance company backed with $160M in funding from world-class investors. Like Stripe for payments or Brex for credit cards, Vouch is creating the go-to business insurance for high-growth companies.

We’re doing this by making insurance fast, responsive, and focused on our high-growth and innovative customers. Instead of printed PDF applications and week-long waits, Vouch is building new technology to solve real problems, writing policies that actually cover relevant startup scenarios, and designing simple experiences in an otherwise frustrating industry.

What does a work environment look like at Vouch?

Vouch is a Virtual First Workplace with San Francisco, Chicago, and New York City office locations. This role can be based anywhere in the U.S. as long as you can work our Vouch core collaboration hours (8:30 am-2:30 pm Pacific Time.) when most internal meetings are held.

A bold mission made possible by design:

At Vouch, we’re on a mission to revolutionize the insurance industry. Faced with the challenge of designing for complex products and discerning clients, particularly in the tech sector, we aim to blend exceptional service with digital efficiency. Our goal is not just to create a great product but to embed design thinking into our DNA, becoming a design-forward company.

The Role:

As a UI/UX Designer, your work will be pivotal in shaping our client experience. You’ll maintain our core design system, empower our design team, and create delightful user experiences that resonate with our clients. Your role is a blend of technical proficiency, creative design, and strategic collaboration.

Your Mandate:

  • Own Our Design System & Component Library: Lead the design and enhancement of our design systems to meet diverse needs and in accordance with industry best practices and accessibility guidelines. Maintain and evolve our component library in collaboration with engineering and QA teams
  • Prototype & Test: Develop high-fidelity prototypes using tools like Figma and ProtoPie. Conduct usability testing for components and workflows, refining the user experience based on feedback.
  • Design Workflows & Features: Practice your “design thinking” by working with product managers to deliver impactful product features and improvements, ensuring alignment with user needs and enhancing the overall client experience.

About You:

  • Professional Experience: 2-3 years in UI/UX design, with a portfolio demonstrating proficiency in design systems, prototyping, and user-centered design.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g. Figma, ProtoPie), as well as a strong understanding of HTML/CSS.
  • Collaborative Approach: Strong communication and teamwork skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Adept at identifying user needs and translating them into practical and aesthetically pleasing design solutions.
  • **Your application will not be considered if you do not provide a portfolio/website

Creating a life you love also means finding a career that celebrates the unique perspectives and experiences that you bring. As you read through the expectations of the position, consider how your skills and experiences may complement the responsibilities of the role. We encourage you to think through your relevant and transferable skills from prior experiences.

Pinterest is one of the fastest growing online advertising platforms and our continued success depends on rapidly scaling our core revenue-generating systems. Specifically, we need 10X the scale of our campaign management, ad delivery, and machine learning platforms, while enabling developers inside Pinterest and external advertisers to build and iterate rapidly on new features. We are looking for multiple staff engineers to initiate, design, and build the next-gen version of key infra components in our monetization ecosystem, such as modernizing an end-to-end ML platform serving over hundreds of use cases making billions of predictions per second, and redesigning our catalog ingestion and ads delivery systems to become one of the leading advertising platforms in the world. • Work with a strong team of engineers and provide technical guidance and mentorship.

What we’re looking for:

  • 6+ years of relevant industry experience with distributed systems, transactional datastores, and systems programming.
  • Experience in building and owning large scale high performance infrastructure powering ads, recommendation, search, or other consumer facing applications.
  • Experience solving end-user problems and envisioning solutions to improve their productivity.
  • Proficiency in Java, C++, or Python.
