As a member of our Product Design team, you will be designing our most critical user experiences by the end of your first week. Your work will be critical to growing our business, which will ultimately improve patient outcomes. You will collaborate with our clients and internal teams to incorporate user feedback into new flows and interfaces and help us decide what to build, not just how to build it. You Will:

  • You will own the end to end product design process, from research to implementation
  • You will help plan and execute generative and evaluative user experience research
  • You will find creative solutions for tough problems and work smarter around technical limitations
  • You will present your ideas to a varied audience (product managers to technical architects and developers) and iterate product designs with our technical teams and work closely with them to understand all the technical functionality and constraints of the application
  • You will craft, distill and deliver elegant designs that make using our products functional, intuitive and delightful
  • You will facilitate and evolve the look and feel of the Datavant product design language, its components and design patterns, from concepts to implementation

What You Will Bring to the Table:

  • Driven, entrepreneurial, startup-ready
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in user research and design
  • Ability to communicate effectively with different client personas, as well as cross-functionally with internal partners (including Product Manager, Engineering, Go To Market, Product Success, and Marketing)
  • Solid understanding of user-centered design methods across the full UX lifecycle
  • Great understanding of information hierarchy and design patterns: You should be able to produce quality designs (we use Figma)
  • Used to working collaboratively in a multi-disciplined agile team.
  • Navigate comfortably between being hands-on-in-the-detail of projects and contributing to the wider program of work
  • You have high bandwidth, high productivity, and highly organized you are noted for your ability to simultaneously manage multiple topics

  • Relevant Bachelor or Masters degree

The mission of the Actuarial Student Program is to grow actuarial knowledge, business acumen and leadership skills in our Actuaries to enable the achievement of organizational goals. Actuarial students are expected to progress through the levels of the job family based on academic/exam achievements and by developing their analytical skills, independent decision making, and effective communication and leadership skills.

Key Elements of Position

We are seeking an aspiring actuary to join our Asset Modeling team. In this critical role, you will support the team by delivering and effectively communicating model results. Your focus will be on model development, automation, and deployment, specifically related to Interest Rate and Market Risk. Collaborating with stakeholders, youll contribute to informed decision-making and drive successful business outcomes through actuarial analysis.

As part of our actuarial student development program, youll have the opportunity for one additional rotational assignmentexposing you to different facets of the business. Expect to rotate roles approximately every 23 years within our four distinct product lines (each supported by an actuarial team) and our corporate actuarial department. This program offers a wealth of options to expand your actuarial skills and knowledge throughout your career at The Standard.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Model Building and Dissemination: Assist in constructing models and disseminating results crucial for risk management and investment decisions.
  • Collaboration and Solution Design: Collaborate with fellow modelers to design and develop solutions for new initiatives, while adhering to model control standards.
  • Business Understanding: Develop a comprehensive understanding of The Standards profitability, growth, Asset Liability Management (ALM), and risk management.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Support the team by investigating models and results, responding to stakeholder inquiries, and effectively communicating findings to team members.

Qualifications Required

  • Education: A bachelors degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Actuarial Exams: Successful completion of three or more actuarial exams sponsored by the Society of Actuaries (SOA) or equivalent within the past eighteen months.
  • Excel Proficiency: Experience with pivot tables and functions such as Vlookups and Index/Match.
  • Programming skills: Some proficiency in programming languages such as Python or VBA.
  • Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen or have work authorization to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship (these roles are not sponsorship eligible).

Qualifications Desired

  • Experience: Actuarial internship experience modeling in GGY AXIS and/or programming in Python.
