Title: Project Geologist – Petrography
Job Description
Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Terracon is growing and seeks a Project Geologist to join the Petrography team in our Cincinnati, Ohio office.
The successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of the microstructural characteristics, analytical tools and consensus standards used to evaluate concrete, concrete aggregate, and cementitious materials. They will be required to understand and have the ability to identify the common deterioration mechanisms of cementitious material composites in a variety of environmental exposure conditions. It is imperative that candidates have experience using a stereo-optical microscope, polarized light microscope, and scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Good communication skills, intellectual curiosity, problem-solving abilities, and a strong motivation to learn, grow, and teach are essential for this position.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Carry out investigations of concrete and aggregate according to ASTM C856, ASTM C1723, ASTM C457, ASTM C295, ASTM C1324 and other standard or novel methods and draft comprehensive reports of their findings
- Provide technical direction and training to less experienced professional staff
- Develop understanding and be aware of project-related risk; be familiar with what could go wrong on a project and how to protect the Company
- Lead safety efforts for team and ensure team follows safety rules and guidelines; responsible for creating and modeling a safe work environment; demonstrates safety practices; promote pre-task planning for all projects
- Promote continuous quality monitoring and improvement on projects; monitor quality standards and practices
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Physical Science, or Civil Engineering; Master’s degree preferred
- Minimum 7 years of related experience
- Possess a comprehensive understanding of the composition and structure of concrete materials at a microscopic and structural level and be well trained to identify common deterioration mechanisms
- Possess a good working knowledge of factors affecting and contributing to durability issues of cementitious material systems and be able to identify them
- Understanding of factors that affect the performance of concrete materials and how the microscopic characteristics are affected by those factors is preferred
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule when required to meet project needs
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history

Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Public Response Representative is responsible for maintaining an online presence that engages the digital community and advocates for the NMDP brand to increase mentions and help grow our social following. This position will directly engage with the public and NMDP registry members to inform, educate and inspire on behalf of NMDP, overseeing all social media accounts, My NMDP community (MyNMDP) and webchat. Community Management also involves setting the tone for the community and enforcing community guidelines. This position will support the achievement of department goals through accomplishing job accountabilities, providing excellent service to internal and external customers, and exceptional independent time management.

ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Function A:
- Maintains expert proficiency in responding to incoming customer communications via social media, MyNMDP app and webchat
- Community management via likes and replies to social media comments including replying to direct messages
- Approves join requests for MyNMDP communities, monitoring community member adherence to guidelines
- Responses to webchat questions and concerns from members and constituents
- Manage social media engagement during events, such as Facebook Live and other live posts
- Maintains knowledge of core functional activities to perform the Public Response Representative role
- Maintains proficiency in managing and maintaining systems and procedures, such as: updating donor records, resolving swab kit issues, managing registrations, and onboarding new registry members with unique consent circumstances

Function B:
- Public Response leadership and Social Media Team collaboration
- Identifies trends through gathering, analyzing, and tracking information including crisis management

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Write and speak with the voice of NMDP to the public, registry members, and donors, using language consistent with current organizational messaging

Education and/or Experience:
- Associate’s degree in marketing or related field. However, upon evaluation, a combination of equivalent experience and/or education directly related to the degree may be substituted for the degree requirement
- One to three years of communications experience; writing to public and professional audience across multiple social media channels
- Basic word processing and data entry experience. Customer service and data entry experience may be concurrent.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Additional qualifications that may make a person even more effective in the role, but are not required for consideration)

- Suggest and implement SEO best practices for client sites across a variety of industries and sizes including eCommerce, tech, and finance

Required Skills

- Technical background with the ability to demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience with conducting a full SEO site audit and pulling impactful recommendations from it, presented in a digestible format
- Solid understanding of how search engines crawl, index, and rank websites, as well as how those tasks work in different websites/industries (i.e., news, blogs, eCommerce, etc.)
