We are searching for a Global Trade Compliance Manager based in Scottsdale, AZ or remote.The role will focus on maintaining a highly efficient, effective, and disciplined flow of export and import controls to ensure compliance with Customs and other government offices. Management of our Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes for all Fender and Specialty Brand products. Responsible for Fender’s FTZ operation and all regulatory compliance standards per US Customs. The role will also continue to establish our Free Trade Agreements and search for new opportunities.

Essential Functions:

  • Collaborate with leadership to develop a 5 – year road map and strategy for the Global Trade Compliance department and our international regional DC operations.
  • Initiate the management of our global custom brokers to include establishing broker KPI’s and leading quarterly broker meetings.
  • Serve as the primary interface for Fender with Customs authorities worldwide.
  • Maintain import and export metrics and scorecard.
  • Implement and manage the Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) program.
  • Management of our Harmonized Tariff Schedule codes for all Fender and Specialty Brand products. This should include extending the US HTS to build a data base of Harmonized Codes for Canada, Mexico, Japan, Europe, Asia and Australia working with our global broker(s).
  • Trade Compliance Management of our FTZ distribution and manufacturing zones within the US.
  • Responsible for our GTM (Global Trade Management) system to ensure we are fully utilizing the platforms and develop a plan to use the module globally.
  • Some prior experience with transportation and logistics regarding cross-border movement of goods; to include understanding of INCOTERMS.
  • General knowledge of sanctions, export controls and anti-bribery compliance.
  • Provide internal expertise on trade regulations; this will involve keeping accurate records, providing interdepartmental training and increasing compliance communication and awareness; to include mitigating any risk within our global network.
  • Requesting rulings from Customs, replying to requests for information, and filing protests as needed.
  • Develop relationships with customs and other governmental bodies.
  • Responsible for continuous improvement opportunities within the department.
  • Research opportunities for international trade cost avoidance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filings with customs for all of Fender’s import / export shipments.
  • Excellent communication skills will help this position be effective in dealing with freight forwarders, brokers, import vendors and steamship lines.
  • Additional duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 6+ years of experience in a leadership role managing a centralized global trade compliance group
  • Working knowledge of Customs & Duties, HTS, NAFTA, GSP, Lacey Act and CITES requirements.
  • Experience managing and / or supporting an FTZ operation.
  • Working knowledge of SAP or similar ERP system preferred.
  • Experience with ACE, AES and global trade management systems.
  • US Customs Broker License or equivalent knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Ability to perform and provide analysis at multiple levels.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills (in particular, Word, Excel, Access)
  • Certified Licensed Broker preferred.
  • Haz-Mat / Dangerous Goods certification preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required
