What’s the role?

Search connects Etsy buyers with our diverse, creative, global marketplace. It is often the starting point for buyers to find what they come to Etsy for—from custom furniture to engagement rings. This year, we’re evolving our search experience to feel more focussed, personalized, and curated than ever before. We want to help bring buyers’ dreams to life by making it easy to navigate the breadth of our marketplace and the best of our seller’s inventory.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Director of Product Design, of our Buyer Experience Groups and the base salary range will be 202,000.00 – 262,000.00 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States who are either remote, flex, or office-based. What’s this team like at Etsy?

  • You’ll join a leadership team that represents all functions that contribute to product development including of user research, product management, data analytics, and engineering
  • You’ll manage a team of designers working on the search experience, and a manager who leads our Etsy Ads product, which allows sellers to market their items in search
  • In addition to working on the search customer experience, you’ll work alongside expert engineers specialized in search ranking, retrieval, localization, and personalization.

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Collaborating with cross-functional leads to craft the vision, strategy, goals, strategic roadmap, and operations of your initiatives
  • Regularly sharing work with stakeholders to provide visibility; managing relationships and collaboration across product groups working on overlapping parts of the search experience
  • Dedicating time to mentor, coach and sponsor managers and designers on your team; finding or creating career growth opportunities for members your team
  • Ensuring we are building the right products for our customers, and help teams take the best near-term steps toward their long-term vision
  • Leading regular design reviews, critiques, and brainstorming sessions for your teams
  • Work alongside the broader Design Leadership team to craft our teams’ culture, processes, and tools
  • Recruiting, hiring and onboarding outstanding designers and leaders
