As consultants to our federal clients, you will be part of a cross-functional team applying human-centered design methods and innovation to deliver enterprise modernization at scale. At Bixal you will join a multidisciplinary collective of researchers, designers, strategists, and product managers creating innovative digital products, services and experiences that have a positive impact on the American public and communities around the world.

The UX researcher is involved throughout the entire lifecycle of a project, utilizing research techniques to understand the experiences of a customer journey and refining that data into actionable insight to help understand behaviors and drive engagement across products, services, and experiences. This research role will need to use customer-experience-focused generative research as a primary research method. This research will help to define internal organizational processes and how that intersects with the understanding of the customer journey and needs by conducting research with real users and gathering both qualitative and quantitative insights about how people think, feel, and behave. The UX researcher plans and executes research activities, analyzes findings, ensures they are communicated to the whole team and ultimately, takes the guesswork out of the design process, making sure that the team has enough information to make data-informed product and CX decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct discovery activities, including stakeholder interviews, customer touchpoint analysis, task analysis, and conceptual modeling.
  • Conduct generative research activities, including observational studies, customer interviews, usability testing, and other needs analysis.
  • Create generative research artifacts such as empathy maps, personas, storyboards, journey maps, experience maps, and service blueprints.
  • Effectively communicate research findings, insights, implications, conceptual ideas both verbally and visually.
  • Plan and facilitate collaborative analysis and synthesis working sessions.
  • Work closely with a cross functional team to ensure customer goals are met.
  • Research user needs as well as system enhancements.
  • Plan, recruit, and facilitate research and testing.
  • Analyze and synthesize results from research and testing to provide recommendations; Identify patterns and gaps
  • Create evaluative research documents and artifacts, including research plans, usability test plans, scripts, and findings.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 4-6years of experience in UX, CX, service design, product design, or commensurate work experience.
  • Experience conducting user research, from the planning stage through execution and translation into actionable insights
  • Strong understanding of human-centered design strategies, methods, and approaches, and how to apply them
  • Experience leading research activities for complex business solutions
  • Ability to communicate customer journey touchpoints and the best methods for measuring them, using layman’s terms
  • Strong consultation and collaboration skills; comfortable facilitating meetings and workshops with cross-functional project teams
  • A portfolio of case studies showing how research had a measured impact on the overall customer experience and demonstrated value to the business
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust security clearance
