User Experience Engineer

Green Pixel Studios is charged with pushing the envelope on user experience design in digital. This role, reporting to the Director of Design Engineering, will engage in the evolution of user experience in financial services. We are looking for someone who is passionate about envisioning experiences that push imaginative solutions to enable the bank’s clients to fulfill their financial dreams.

This position will focus on building HTML5 based web components for desktop and mobile devices for our online retail banking business. The successful candidate will work with marketing, UI/UX design, and development teams.

This is an excellent opportunity for a junior level developer to learn and grow within an established technology minded company focused on delivering outstanding experiences to its customers.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation and delivery of ADA compliant, responsive-enabled HTML/CSS
  • Sizing and optimization of images to be used online from provided Photoshop, Sketch, or Illustrator files
  • Testing and validation of deliverables against materials provided by design teams
  • Iterate to improve development process, testing, and delivery
  • Active participant in agile ceremonies as part of project execution
  • Represent the technical perspective in discussions surrounding UI deliverables
  • Advocate for the end-user

Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience

  • 1-3 years experience in front end web development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript)
  • 1-3 years experience with CSS preprocessors such as SASS or LESS
  • Experience with accessibility and ADA compliance
  • Experience with web development frameworks such as Bootstrap and/or Foundation
  • Experience with code repository tools and concepts such as Git and Subversion
  • Experience with the production of web-based display ads, both static and animated
  • Advanced comprehension of responsive design patterns and principles
  • Basic knowledge of content management system (CMS) concepts
  • Full understanding of the client/server relationship, and the basics of HTTP
  • A passionate self-starter looking to grow his/her skillset within the UI space
  • Interested in art and design, but being an actual designer is not required
  • Able to confidently articulate (spoken and written) how a solution answers user needs, business goals, and technical constraints
  • Strong listening, organization, and communication skills

Preferred Skills/Experience

  • Background in graphic design and/or interaction design
  • Experience with Sketch
  • Familiarity with the principles of animation
  • Experience with industry standard JavaScript frameworks such as Angular, Vue, and/or React
  • Experience with web delivery automation including linting, unit testing, and minification

Education, Certifications and/or Other Professional Credentials

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above

Hours and Work Schedule

  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Work Schedule: Monday – Friday
