Position Description

Valiant Solutions is seeking a UI/UX Developer to support our agile software development practice supporting an environmentally focused Federal Government client. The agency’s programs aim to promote environmental sustainability and protect the natural resources of our planet. As part of this contract, we will be supporting the agency’s efforts to develop and maintain information systems that facilitate the tracking and reporting of environmental data. Our team will work closely with the agency to ensure that the information systems are secure, compliant with accessibility standards, and support the agency’s business processes.

The UI/UX Developer will gather user requirements, design graphic elements and build navigation components. To be successful in this role, you should have experience with design software and wireframe tools.  A candidate will be able to create functional and visually descriptive features.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of work experience as a UI/UX Designer or a similar role
  • Knowledge of wireframe tools 
  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, OmniGraffle, or other visual design and wire-framing tools
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for rapid prototyping.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Good time-management skills 
  • Collaborating with product management and developers to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals, and experience

Responsibilities:

  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers and engineers.
  • Collaborating with product management and engineering to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals, and experience
  • Conceptualizing original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
  • Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps
  • Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets
  • Build page navigation buttons and search fields
  • Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and appear.
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches, and tables)
  • Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems 
  • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
  • Conceptualizing original ideas that bring simplicity and user friendliness to complex design roadblocks
