Title: Test Engineer II (Hybrid Eligible)

As a Test Engineer at SNC, you will be using your skills and expertise to simulate, test, certify and improve cutting edge products and services. These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You’ll develop complex test plans and procedures for a variety of systems to ensure the verification and validation of all product requirements. You will also be involved with the execution of the tests using top industry tools. As a cross functional engineer, you’ll test system and component level new products and develop new test processes throughout the product lifecycle.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. The MST team has a long legacy of supporting the Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security, commercial and international customers with years of experience in platform operations, engineering and full lifecycle management across domains – air, land, sea, space and cyber.

This role is open to a hybrid schedule or 100% remote work in most states

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain all related test procedure documentation.
  • Maintain a high level of competence by staying abreast of state-of-the-art testing methods and technologies.
  • Interface directly with the Program Managers, Systems Engineers and Engineering Service Managers to assist in the development and execution of Test procedures and Acceptance Testing.
  • Attend and participate in Engineering design reviews to contribute to the understanding of test requirements.
  • Prepare Test Plans, Procedures and Reports assuring that they support the program test requirements.
  • Provide support and development for off-site environmental, integration and acceptance testing requirements.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in Engineering or other related discipline and typically 2 or more years of experience
  • Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
  • Conceptual knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Familiarity working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Knowledge of requirements management, system design, and systems integration
  • Exposure to planning, conducting and documenting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Knowledge of requirements management, system design, and systems integration
  • Experience with conducting and documenting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities
  • Experience in writing software test/regression plans, procedures and reports
  • Emerging understanding of testing methodologies and state-of-the-art test equipment
  • Technical problem solving skills and ability to develop innovative technical solutions
  • Ability to work successfully in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Familiarization with tactical radios, Tactical Data Link, Military operations and User interfaces
  • Experience with test tools and software emulators
  • Familiar with requirement development and traceability software such as JAMA to document requirement link relationships
  • Excellent communication skills to work with and understand unfamiliar systems as described to you by an SME.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with various testing equipment, standards, and methodologies to include manual and automated testing
  • Ability to prepare complex and professional test plans, test procedures, and test reports in order to demonstrate compliance to system requirements
  • Familiarity with Product and Quality Assurance principles and experienced in generation and disposition of product non-conformances
  • Experience performing certification testing for various certification organizations (i.e. FAA, NASA, DoD)
  • Ability to read schematics, use service manuals, follow test procedures, and use logical trouble shooting techniques
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry Experience in Link-16, Joint Range Application Extension Protocol (JREAP), Situational Awareness Data Link (SADL), and Variable Message Format (VMF) testing.
