Job Description
Title: Technical Lead, Engineering
Location: San Francisco, California, United States – Remote
Logixboard is a white-labeled customer experience software that is transforming how the $2 trillion freight forwarding industry operates.
In a highly competitive and technologically antiquated industry undergoing rapid digitalization, we are providing freight forwarders with the only white-labeled and integrated customer experience software available to the market today.
Our software enables freight forwarders to deliver a world-class digital experience to their customers, which propels them far ahead of their competition and dramatically increases customer retention and sales.
Our customers absolutely love our platform, and we’re experiencing tremendous growth both in new customers and in funding, with over $50 million in capital raised to date.
About Us:
Logixboard provides visibility and tracking in the freight forwarding industry. In the context of the significantly disrupted supply chain, our ability to provide accurate estimates in near real-time throughout the journey of a shipment is critical. To that end, we acquire data from multiple 3rd party sources for all modes of transport – ocean, air, rail, and road – to cover the whole lifecycle of a shipment.
We are looking for a Technical Engineering Lead to guide a team of 7-8 engineers in building our platform for data acquisition.
You Will:
As the technical leader of the Foundations Team, you will have a significant impact on the direction of Logixboard’s systems. The Foundations Team leads technical initiatives that both enable engineers across the organization to deliver value more effectively and have measurable impact on the business’s ability to scale.
You will work very closely with your manager and team across the R&D organization to understand the product direction and bottlenecks in our current systems. You will identify, advocate for, and build foundational technologies to support Logixboard’s continued growth.
This role is very hands-on. You will have significant scope to impact architectural decisions, and you will also build systems alongside your team and partner teams.
The scope of work will include:
- Architecting a framework for building integrations to third-party shipping data providers to provide real time data to the Logixboard product.
- Identifying and building tools that enable our engineering team to continue accelerating development velocity.
- Working with product and engineering stakeholders to define the future of the Logixboard data model at the core of our product.
- Owning initiatives end-to-end. From defining success metrics to building new systems, to ensuring systems are operating well in production.
- Teaming up with our managers to hire and grow the team and act as a mentor within our organization.
- Contributing to Logixboard’s nascent engineering talent brand.
- Reviewing engineering initiatives across the organization to reinforce our architectural and scaling goals.
We Are Looking For:
- Experience dealing with data at a large scale. Ideally, you have built systems that integrate with flaky and quirky APIs.
- At least 2 years of experience taking ownership and leading the technical decisions within a small engineering team.
- Experience organizing a team around an initiative.
- A proven understanding of the balance between getting a solution to market quickly without compromising for the future.
- Experience with cloud-native services and general compute infrastructure (we use AWS).
- Experience with databases at scale (we use Postgres and DynamoDB).
- An empathetic, collaborative and consultative work style.
- Openness to making frontend contributions. Some initiatives may touch the frontend, and many of our initiatives will have impacts across our stack.
Our stack is an AWS hosted NodeJS + TypeScript + PostgreSQL environment. Having experience in this stack is a bonus but not a must.
Benefits:
- We are a remote first company, meaning, you can work from home, from the mountains, from the beach, or wherever you feel like getting work done.
- Since our teams span across North America, LATAM, Australia, and the UK it is important for us to make it a priority to see one another. Logixboard will host a yearly in-person company retreat and our teams get together for in-person offsites at least once a year.
- Logixboard covers 100% of premiums for Medical, Dental, and Vision for you, with 75% of premiums covered for your loved ones. We’ll also offer paid life insurance and Long Term Disability.
- 12 weeks parental paid time plus a $2,500 parental bonus to support you and your family.
- Our 401(k) plan makes it easy to save for retirement and you can contribute your tax free dollars from day 1.
- In addition to statutory and Federal holidays, we offer our teammates Flexible Time Off (average is 4-5 weeks) that can also be used to observe holidays that are important to you.
- A yearly Learning and Development budget of $500 to find your own way to continue your professional development.
- To get your office set up, you will receive the basics (laptop, monitor, keyboard and a mouse), plus a one time WFH budget of $1,000 for you to get the other things you need in order to do your best work.
At Logixboard, we believe that people come first and we are committed to building teams that represent a variety of backgrounds, perspectives and skills. We highly encourage under-represented and traditionally marginalized communities to apply. Together, we will create and maintain working and learning environments that are inclusive, equitable and welcoming. If you require assistance or accommodations in the application or interview process, please contact recruiting@logixboard.com.
