About the Job

TaskRabbit is growing and as we scale and expand the business, we need access to robust data that allows us to streamline collection, process at scale, and establish multiple downstream integrations to leverage data for data-driven decision making.

TR’s Data infrastructure team sits at the core in enabling TaskRabbit to be a data driven company . Its mission is to provide access to accurate and reliable data in a timely fashion to drive various business and product decisions at TaskRabbit. As a Staff FullStack Engineer, you’ll be a key member of our team , proposing creative solutions, de-tangling the complex into the simple, and collaborating closely with teammates and Product. You will use your skills and experience in guiding the engineers as well as the management leadership on the right technical choices, mentor several senior engineers and hold a high bar of technical competency.

Our engineering team uses React.js/Next.js on the web frontend, React Native for our mobile applications, and Ruby on Rails on the backend. We’re looking for people who are comfortable and interested in working with a little bit of everything.

What You’ll Work On:

  • Architecting and implementing systems to track application events, metrics, and data to allow real-time analysis of user behavior to drive business decisions.
  • Creating new tracking systems for our Data Pipelines and Data Warehouse.
  • Working on backend data collection frameworks, transforming large volumes of data received through frontend tracking and making sure data is available for analytics and data science.
  • Leading discovery sessions with business teams, comprising product owners, data analysts, and cross-team technologists to understand enterprise data requirements of analytics projects .
  • Contributing to our technical roadmap of ongoing improvements, enhancements and updates
  • Participating in code reviews, listening to feedback and commenting on other approaches
  • A strong technical mentor to Sr and mid-level Software Engineers
  • Evangelize and conduct training on metric, event, and data collection systems and best practices throughout the organization.

Your Areas of Expertise:

  • 8+ years of experience, comfortable working independently
  • Proficient with Ruby/Rails, Javascript, React.js / Next.js/ Typescript /Node.js
  • Experience building API-driven applications
  • Understand how to organize code across the stack: what belongs in the frontend, what in the back
  • A strong advocate of clean code
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

You might be a fit if you have:

  • Experience with event-driven architecture.
  • Experience with Customer Data Platform , preferably Segment.
  • Prior experience with Integrations to 3rd party tools using Segment
  • Experienced in web analytics, instrumentation such as Google Analytics and Kafka
  • Knowledge of SQL (e.g. Postgres, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB)
  • Great attention to detail and focus on code quality
