We are a collaborative, remote-first team that is driven, highly skilled, biased for action, and humble. We are looking for an experienced Staff Product Designer to join our team at a critical juncture to redesign our customer facing communications via email and SMS.

This role will report into the Design Systems & Growth UX team and will design best-in-class communications, scale the Design System to accommodate communications in Figma as well as email HTML templating tools, and take on growth initiatives to systematically expand our consumer growth.

The Design Systems team is a small group of systems thinkers & connectors focused on the cohesive strategy of building, scaling, maturing, and improving the user experience across our surfaces. As Affirm scales, the Design System is an integral piece of ensuring a premium, consistent, trustworthy, and delightful experience for our users. 

What you’ll do

  • Lead the design of end to end growth UX initiatives
  • Design scalable systems, experiences, and frameworks with a focus on clarity, performance, high craft and visual luster
  • Working closely with Content Designers, you will lead the refinement of the visual language of the Affirm Communications Strategy 
  • Author detailed documentation for the Affirm Communications Design System to outline guidelines and standards for us by other Designers, Engineers, Marketers, & Content Designers
  • Be agile about providing context and incorporating feedback from Affirmers at all levels – engaging with teams across Affirm to educate, inform, and answer questions
  • Partner closely with Engineering, Research, Content Design, Product Management, Product Marketing, Brand and Compliance & Legal to execute delightful user experiences

What we look for

  • 7+ years experience in communications & growth strategy, user experience, communications design or product focused roles
  • This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Hands on experience in designing components and contributing to the development of design systems.
  • Exceptional visual design & information architecture skills with a balanced understanding of ‘just right’ design & timeliness
  • High level proficiency with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Contentful, SFMC
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Lottiefiles, WCAG
  • Comfort in ambiguity: you are able to self-direct, prioritize, and clearly communicate with stakeholders in shifting environments
  • Reliability: you communicate clearly and follow through
  • Humility: you recognize the efforts & importance of all contributors to the Design System & Design

Nice to Haves

  • UX writing experience
  • Experience with consumer finance and/or payments
