About the role…
We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Email Designer who can both design and code visually stunning and effective email campaigns. The ideal candidate will have a strong design background, proficiency in HTML/CSS, and experience with email marketing platforms. In this role, you will work closely with our marketing team to create email campaigns and templates that drive engagement and align with our mission.
Road Scholar offers a remote work environment. The compensation range for this exempt level salaried position is $50,000.00 – $60,000.00.
In this role, you will…
- Design and Code Emails: Create visually appealing and responsive email designs, incorporating branding guidelines and ensuring cross-device compatibility. Code HTML emails from scratch, ensuring they render correctly across various email clients and devices.
- Email Campaign Development: Collaborate with the marketing team to conceptualize, design, and implement email campaigns that drive action and support our mission. This includes newsletters, fundraising appeals, event promotions, transactional communications, and more.
- Template Creation: Develop reusable email templates that can be easily customized for different campaigns and purposes, while maintaining design consistency and adhering to best practices.
- Testing and Optimization: Test email designs across different platforms and devices to ensure compatibility. Optimize email layouts, images, and content for maximum engagement and performance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the content, design, and fundraising teams to ensure alignment on messaging, design, and campaign goals. Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas.
- Web Content Production: Occasional web content maintenance, including selecting, cropping and uploading photos to the CMS and Web DAM.
We’re seeking…
- Proven Experience: 2+ years of experience in email design and development, with a strong portfolio showcasing both design and coding skills.
- Design Skills: Expertise in graphic design with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver) or other design software.
- HTML/CSS Proficiency: Strong skills in coding HTML and CSS for email, with a solid understanding of email client limitations and best practices for email design.
- Email Platforms: Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Braze, Constant Contact, Mailchimp) and familiarity with email automation and segmentation.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain design consistency across different email clients and devices.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
- Passion for Mission: A genuine interest in and commitment to the mission of Road Scholar, and an understanding of how email marketing can support non-profit goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Non-Profit Experience: Interest and/or experience working in a non-profit organization or with mission-driven campaigns.
- Nice-to-have Skills: Knowledge of additional programming languages (e.g., JavaScript) or experience with A/B testing and email personalization strategies.
