About the job
This position is needed to build and lead an engineering team within the Messaging organization. The Developer Experience team is focused on delivering rich features that’ll empower builders to create sophisticated, large scale communication campaigns with ease. You will help Twilio create a consistent experience that simplifies the complexity of the underlying channels to delight our customers. You will have an exciting opportunity to get involved in the new product in early stages and lead the team through development and delivery to production.
Responsibilities
In this role, you’ll:
- Build a high-efficiency engineering team and deliver innovative software with a focus in reliability and security
- Own all aspects of software life cycles, clear roadblocks and help the team to stay focused throughout.
- Mentor, challenge and motivate each engineer to continue growing in their career.
- Partner with product owners, product designers, TPM, architects and other engineering leaders to deliver key priorities
- Be an advocate for the team, execute with ownership and lead by example

Required:
- 7+ years of experience in engineering with 2+ years of experience in managing teams of at least 5 engineers.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Experience in collaboratively driving cross-organization projects and delivering results.
- Experience in driving engineering best practices and providing technical guidance.
Desired:
- Experience in building communications software
- Experience with delivering a new product to production
Location
This position is a remote role but is not eligible to be hired in San Francisco, CA, Oakland, CA, San Jose, CA, or the surrounding areas.
Approximately <10% travel is anticipated (ie. team offsite).

The estimated pay ranges for this role are as follows:
- Based in Colorado: $160,080 – $200,100.
- Based in New York or Washington State: $169,500 – $211,900.
- Based in the San Francisco Bay area, California: $188,300 – 235,400.
- This role is eligible to participate in Twilio’s equity plan and the following benefits: health care insurance, 401(k) retirement account, paid sick time, paid personal time off, paid parental leave.
The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location within the state.
