First Look: Software Engineer (Full Stack)

The Arena Group is looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer to join its best-in-class, fast growing publishing technology platform that powers some of the largest sites on the internet, operating Sports Illustrated (#2 in Sports), TheStreet (#10 in Finance), Parade (#9 in Lifestyle) and many more. We are a 100% virtual company; this role has no in person requirements.
As a Full Stack Software Engineer, you’ll work with a diverse team of top-notch engineers, designers, and product managers. You’ll build new capabilities to our publishing platform and watch them be used by millions of users. You’ll have the ability to learn or further develop your skills in areas such as microservice architecture, UX, data analytics, API design, and AI.
The ideal candidate for this role is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, and works well across a variety of stakeholders (editorial teams, sales teams, designers, engineers, executives and product managers).
The Arena Group’s expected annualized base salary range for this position is currently $125,000-150,000. Actual salaries will vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to location, education, experience and other factors permitted by law. The listed salary range is but one component of The Arena Group’s total compensation and benefits available to its employees.

What You’ll Do
- Work closely with Product Managers and Designers to build new features for our growing publisher base.
- Produce high-quality scalable code that is well tested and easily maintained.
- Participate in all phases of the software development cycle.
- Assist the skilled support and operations teams in triaging and resolving production issues.
What You’ll Bring
- You’ve been building web applications professionally for 4+ years and are comfortable with all layers of the application stack, from infrastructure to front-end.
- You possess strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, programming languages, systems, and information retrieval.
- You write scalable, testable, and maintainable code.
- You’re able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
- Experience with some (or all) of the following languages and technologies: Typescript, Python, React, Terraform.
- Experience working on a microservice architecture is a plus.
