Job Description
HII Mission Technologies’ Global Security group is seeking a Software Engineer 2 to join our Internal Research and Development team! This is a full-time remote position and the candidate must be able to work during Eastern Time zone hours. As a Software Engineer, you will play a critical role as part of the Internal Research and Development team in the planning, research, design, development, and testing work needed to create high quality software that is ready for transition to direct customers.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
- Conducts multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
- Analyzes system capabilities to resolve problems on program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques and controls;
- Prepares operating instructions
- Designs and develops compilers and assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems.
- Ensures software standards are met.
- Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy.
- Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
- General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques.
- Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks.
- Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned
- Works under general supervision.
- Follows established procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 0 years experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 years relevant experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
- Proficiency, in at least, one modern programming language such as Java, JavaScript, Python, or C++.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience developing software for DoD distributed simulations.
