About AppleTree

With a mission of closing the achievement gap before students get to kindergarten, AppleTree focuses exclusively on preschool and pre-K education. We provide free, full-day public charter school programming for three- and four-year-olds in 11 locations across Washington, DC, employing our innovative and award-winning instructional models. These instructional models provide educators with tools and resources for What to Teach, How to Teach, and How to Measure Success. Our instructional model is also used with partners across the nation. In addition, we continuously test and improve this model through feedback from AppleTree educators, partners, and other stakeholders to ensure that children are learning and exploring through play and appropriate instruction.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a social media strategy that is aligned with a social media calendar
  • Create, implement, and analyze social media campaigns
  • Increase engagement and followers on all social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Tik Tok
  • Write exciting content, engage with other organization-related posts, and direct conversations with followers
  • Work in collaboration with copy editing, marketing, web, and design
  • Develop and present social media reports on an ongoing basis
  • Provide ongoing strategies for influencer marketing, social media competitions, and user-to-user-generated content

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, marketing, business, design, public relations, or related fields
  • Minimum three years of experience working in social media in a professional environment
  • Ability to use social media management platforms such as Hootsuite
  • Knowledge of Adobe’s Creative Suiteincluding Photoshop and/or InDesign
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Google Products (Drive, Sheets, Slides, & Docs)
  • Knowledge of 508 compliance and accessibility is a plus
  • Strong ability to internalize brand guidelines and strategically adapt them to social media content
  • Manages deadlines and multiple projects simultaneously and completes work quickly and with high attention to detail
  • Detailed in English grammar and spelling
  • Skilled in writing and editing content with attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Spanish and/or Amharic is a plus
  • Energetic and enthusiastic
  • Strong organizational skills

Work Environment

Flexible/ Remote but must be available to work 8-4:30 EST
