SEO Analyst, Commerce

Vox Media’s newsroom analytics team is part of a growing analytics department that consists of SEO, newsroom analytics, social audience development, product analytics, and data science. Our mission is to use data to help Vox Media grow our audiences and businesses.

The SEO team is part of a centralized Analytics team, situated primarily between the Editorial and Product organizations. We own the company’s POV and strategy for both Content and Technical SEO.

We’re seeking an analyst that will report to the SEO Manager, Content to help grow our commerce audience from search. The ideal candidate is curious and creative in their data analysis; has a strong understanding of the relationship between SEO and commerce and communicates their findings effectively; and collaborates as needed with commerce stakeholders.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Maintain and monitor regular automated SEO reports in support of Vox Media’s commerce goals
  • Build and support ad-hoc reports and dashboards across multiple SEO and commerce data sources to inform areas of growth opportunity
  • Collect and manipulate SEO and commerce data using multiple tactics and work to ensure data integrity
  • Perform research and analyses of SEO and commerce data and interpret results; draw insights and contribute ideas for actionable feedback for commerce stakeholders
  • Assist with documenting best SEO practices and how-to guides to support commerce stakeholders
  • Maintain strong relationships with commerce stakeholders in order to communicate and assist on strategies for growth from search

WHO YOU ARE

  • You have a strong understanding of editorial SEO
  • You have a strong understanding of commerce KPIs
  • You are analytical and detail oriented, with a passion not just for reporting data, but also for identifying underlying themes around key trends, results and critical outcomes
  • You have experience with various analytics and SEO tools, such as Google Search Console, Google Trends, Google Keyword Planner, Google Analytics or equivalent
  • You have experience monitoring changes in ranking
  • You have experience with Excel/Google Sheets and can aggregate data from disparate sources in a consolidated view
  • You have strong written and verbal communication skillsBonus points for:
    • A passion for digital publishing; experience working in a commerce website in a fluid editorial environment
    • Knowledge of technical SEO and experience with Screaming Frog and/or DeepCrawl
    • Experience identifying errors in Google Search Console and communicating them to product teams
    • Experience with SEMrush, Moz, or other third party ranking tools
    • Experience monitoring and responding to Google algorithm changes
    • Experience utilizing data stored in Google BigQuery
