This role is part of the Medicare Design Studio which is dedicated to improving the lives and experiences of seniors as they navigate the complex healthcare landscape. Serving one in five Medicare beneficiaries, UnitedHealthcare Government Programs is the largest business dedicated to the health and well-being needs of seniors and other Medicare beneficiaries. The studio focuses on supporting our members throughout their journey – whether they are shopping for Medicare plans, utilizing their plan at critical moments of need or helping them get the most value out of their plan throughout the plan year.
The Senior UX Designer will be an integral part of the Medicare Design Studio in creating end-to-end experiences and journeys for key initiatives and features. In this role, you will work closely with various studio disciplines, design leadership, principal designers, strategists, product and business stakeholders to develop and translate the product strategy into a compelling design vision.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the design strategy and execution for a functional or product area
- Translate product strategy into a compelling design vision
- Support product strategy, Information Architecture, user research, experience requirements gathering from stakeholders
- Interpret analytics, voice of the customer, market feedback, site rankings and any relevant collateral as needed
- Explore emerging opportunity in the healthcare digital space, evaluate and evangelize as needed
- Be the voice of the user in prioritization, new product and feature development for Digital Products and other digital experience areas as needed
- Lead discussion and critique of work, solicit requirements from stakeholders, be a key partner in helping deliver on our mission
- Serves as a key resource on complex and/or critical issues
- Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
- Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions
- Authorizes deviations from standards
- Motivates and inspires other team members
- Regularly presents to senior leadership

Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with information architecture, interaction design, ux design or graphic design
- 2+ years incorporating user feedback in the design process (user research, NPS, Voice of the customer)
- 2+ years of experience building or consuming personas to inform design decisions
- 2+ years of experience working in cross functional teams
- 2+ years of experience presenting to stakeholders
- 2+ years of experience with any of the design tools – Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Figma, Axure
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree or certifications in Human Centered Design
- Experience and proven ability to work across a matrixed multi-tiered organization and deliver the best possible outcomes
- Experience with Agile product development
- Solid knowledge and understanding of front-end development
