Your day at NTT DATA

The Senior Systems Design / Architecture Engineer is an advanced subject matter expert, accountable for defining the architecture for large systems and supporting NTT’s Global IP Network.

This role conducts system design activities to ensure that architectural solutions meet technical and functional requirements.

It also performs architectural analysis, evaluation, and design of systems that support and seek to solve complex business and technical problems.

What you’ll be doing

In this role you will:

  • Manage systems and applications that support the Global IP Network.
  • Automate operations of systems and software to improve reliability and efficiency
  • Manage physical and virtual networks within the Global IP Network’s IT environment.
  • Proactively identify technology gaps and develop and implement solutions collaboratively.
  • Diagnose system problems; propose and rapidly develop high quality solutions.
  • Work with developers and other internal teams to ensure stable operation of the servers and applications that support the NTT Global Backbone.
  • Ensure Business Continuity via Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and testing
  • Research, plan for, and implement new systems technology in the current operating environment.
  • Identify opportunities and drive the implementation of automation.
  • Proactively identify potential problems that could be remediated by more effective architectural solutions.
  • Perform any other task as required.
  • Collaborate – ability to exercise cross-team co-operation and influence
  • Manage multi-tasking projects, assignments and daily workload while maintaining timely deliverables.
  • Operate in virtualized network and compute environments, in non-cloud settings.
  • Effectively deal with stakeholders in challenging situations as well as the ability to navigate through complexity and ambiguity.
  • Demonstrate excellent business acumen with excellent communication and organizational skills.

This role is perfect for you, if you:

  • Have 10+ years experience with systems administrations and/or architecture engineering
  • Have 5+ years experience with Linux system administration
  • 5+ years administering VMware vSphere (experience with VSAN, NSX, vRealize/Aria and/or Tanzu is highly desirable).
  • 3+ years experience with IPv4 and IPv6 networking including knowledge of BGP and routing announcements, as well as Cisco and Juniper based networks (routers and switches)
  • Experience administering remote, scalable, automated Linux-based virtual and physical platforms in on-prem datacenters, cloud, and remote points-of-presence worldwide.
  • 3+ years experience with automation using Puppet or similar large-scale configuration management platforms.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Ubuntu Linux, Redhat Enterprise Linux, OpenLDAP, Postgres, Splunk and Veeam are highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Possess excellent written communication skills, with a focus on translating technically complex issues into simple, easy to understand concepts.

  • Possess the ability to analyze impact of systems policies, procedures, configurations, and behaviors.
  • Possess excellent planning and decision-making skills.
