The Storage & Replication team is responsible for the infrastructure and services that power Affirm’s most critical data pipelines by providing access to replicated data from across the organization through our Apache Iceberg-powered Data Lake and Snowflake-powered Cloud Data Warehouse. The team’s mission is to establish a modern, efficient, and scalable data infrastructure that empowers all Affirm teams to work seamlessly with data.
We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Engineer to help drive the development of our Data Lake infrastructure to meet the growing needs of the many teams that depend on this mission critical system. You’ll have the opportunity to directly contribute to your team’s roadmap in close collaboration with your peers, share your knowledge and expertise with others and learn from some of the best on our shared mission to deliver honest financial products that improve lives.
What You’ll Do
- Design and develop: Deliver on improvements to our Data Lake infrastructure that unlock new functionality and meet the scalability and reliability needs of our users
- Innovate: Stay up to date in industry trends and best practices, identifying opportunities to improve our systems and processes through the use of new technologies
- Collaborate: Build relationships with others while partnering with a broad range of stakeholders to ensure the services we provide meet or exceed their expectations
- Improve: Contribute to the ongoing improvement of your team’s quality standards and development processes, reviewing others work and providing constructive feedback where necessary
- Build teams: Play an active role in building an inclusive and positive culture through active participation in team discourse, providing mentorship for junior team members and fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
What We Look For
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in software engineering with progressive levels of responsibility
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in modern programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or similar. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes). Working knowledge of OLTP and OLAP solutions an asset (SQL, NoSQL, Data Lakes/Warehouses)
- Technical Leadership: Ability to synthesize complex business, product, and technical requirements to consistently produce high quality system designs and software
- Team Player: Community builder with strong network-building and collaboration skills and a strong desire to grow and mentor others
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Education: This position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field
