About iRhythm:

iRhythm is a leading digital healthcare company focused on the way cardiac arrhythmias are clinically diagnosed by combining our wearable bio sensing technology with powerful cloud-based data analytics and Artificial Intelligence capabilities. Our goal is to be the leading provider of ambulatory ECG monitoring for patients at risk for arrhythmias. iRhythm’s continuous ambulatory monitoring has already put over 2 million patients and their doctors on a shorter path to what they both need answers.

About this role:

As a Research Data Engineer within the iRhythm Research & Systems Engineering team, you will be a critical collaborator in the discovery of new clinical and commercial insights. In collaboration with specialist teams in data science, clinical research, product development, and others, your pipelines and services will empower our researchers to develop the next generation of innovations. As you grow here your experiences and creative ideas will help drive the direction of our research data stack.

  • Design and code pipelines that efficiently transform our raw data into formats and structures that best serve our researchers (Python and algorithm design)
  • Implement services that store and deliver this data to appropriate end users (AWS tools, Snowflake, Docker)
  • Develop, document, and monitor testing regimes that ensure performant code and data integrity
  • Maintain a clean and well-documented code base and audit trail (git, Bitbucket, Confluence, JIRA)
  • Provide feedback to data, systems, and software development teams to help shape the next generation of our data tooling
  • As you become well-versed in our data ecosystems, advise researchers on how to address data asks from internal and external collaborators

About You:

  • You enjoy both software development and the scientific research process
  • You enjoy the creation of new data tools, services, and pipelines
  • You like to work on meaningful problems in health science and biomedical research
  • You are a strong communicator, interested in communicating technical information about data to a wide range of stakeholders and up and down the management chain
  • You would like to work on a lean team in a flexible, wide-ranging role with room for initiative and vision

Required Qualifications

  • Viewable as a functioning project in a public repository:
    • Experience with software development in Python, including libraries such as pandas and scikit-learn
    • Experience creating data pipelines that transform raw data into insights
  • Background in scientific research, preferably as expressed through one or more publications
  • Knowledge of statistics and data analysis
  • Skill with SQL and database queries
  • MS in a technical discipline, or equivalent via alternative training and certification pathways

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AWS tooling including Redshift, Glue, and Batch
  • Experience with data issues arising in clinical research such as data freezing and replicability
  • Previous experience in the medical device industry including its data requirements and regulations
  • Signal processing knowledge including topics like wavelets or compressive sensing
  • Contributions to an open-source software project, including accepted commits
