Senior Product Manager, Platform Domain

Alma is seeking a Senior Product Manager to join the Platform team. In this role, your primary customers will be internal engineering squads along with other stakeholders in our product, Marketing, and Engineering teams. Your mission will be to increase feature squad efficiency through shared services and common UX systems. You will empower feature squads in experimentation and drive to improve developer experience.

This role will also have product responsibility over the broader Engineering Platform domain and will help existing engineering-led squads sharpen their strategy, contribute to quarterly planning cycles and serve as the product lead for select projects.

The Senior Product Manager for Platform will work with squads of engineers to prioritize and execute on the most impactful projects that will enable other engineering teams to deliver on our company goals. This role will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to understand their needs and help create a roadmap for the Platform team to address those use cases.

What you’ll do:

  • Work across platform squads of engineers, led by engineering managers, to prioritize and execute on the highest impact projects that will help further our organization’s goals
  • Collaborate with engineering leaders to create a roadmap for your squad(s) and contribute to the roadmaps for broader Platform teams
  • Serve as the product point of contact for the Engineering Platform organization
  • Define user problems for internal engineering squads and identify prioritized requirements to serve those needs
  • Identify key metrics for the success of projects undertaken by teams you support
  • Serve as the primary facilitator across product, engineering, and other cross-functional departments for prioritized initiatives

Who you are:

  • You have at least 3 years of product management experience, specifically serving software delivery teams as customers
  • You have served as an Individual Contributor (IC) engineer in the past and intimately understand the types of challenges engineering teams face in building quality software products. You can reason clearly about developer pain points and tradeoffs relevant for platform decisions.
  • You have the ability to think big picture, while also an expert in tactical execution
  • You have strong technical acumen and work with engineers as your primary users to identify detailed requirements
  • You have excellent communication skills and can effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders
