ABOUT THE ROLE AND OUR TEAM:

We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Designer to join our Marketplace team to help drive the exciting evolution of our two-sided wedding marketplace that makes it easy for every couple in the world to find and build their dream wedding team and wedding pros build successful businesses.

This means someone who is a self-starter, clear communicator, and passionate about partnering with Product Managers and Engineers to set the strategic vision, design direction, and visual polish that make our products the best in the industry. This role is expected to partner across disciplines, including UX writers, researchers, and others to understand our users, define opportunities, set the strategic vision for our experiences, and deliver high-quality designs.

Ideal candidates will have a high degree of comfort with the full product design process – from discovery to ideation to execution. To be successful in this role, this designer will need to consistently partner with cross-functional counterparts to tackle design responsibilities for the full product lifecycle. While this role is the primary designer on a team, the full Product Design team is always ready to assist and collaborate. This role will additionally have hands-on support from their manager, a Director of Product Design.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Be a great product designer

  • Know and love our users, understand their pain points, listen to their feedback, walk in their shoes, be their champions.
  • Explore multiple ideas while also knowing when to bring the work to an executable deliverable that is a user-centric experience and high-quality solution that simplifies complex problems.
  • Effectively articulate the value of design as well as the reasons for your design decisions clearly, in non-designer-speak, to Product and Engineering teammates as well as other important stakeholders.
  • Receive design feedback with professionalism and patience, and give clear and usable design feedback to design peers.
  • Uphold a high standard for design excellence, and contribute to raising the bar for design at the company.
  • Effectively present to and discuss solutions with stakeholders.

Be a great design team partner

  • Actively contribute to the evolution and strengthening of our design system for a cohesive user experience, including crafting components, auditing libraries, and ensuring quality in application of the system.
  • Participate in design team reviews and critiques.
  • Cultivate a culture of learning, self-improvement, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Keep growing your skills, stay curious, and receive constructive criticism with ease.

Be a great product squad partner

  • Collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholdersincluding researchers, product managers, engineers, product marketing, brand, and other designersto define and solve complex user problems together.
  • Take initiative, and be a valued partner in an autonomous, full-stack, product team.
  • Collaborate, ideate, and iterate with your product team.
  • Advocate for the user, impactful experiences, and high-quality designs.
  • Work with software development teams to meet technical requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops, design sprints, and other collaborative design sessions for your team.
  • Understand core product metrics to drive design strategy.
  • Consider the nuances, challenges, and opportunities of different device types, screen sizes, and platforms.

SUCCESSFUL SENIOR PRODUCT DESIGNER CANDIDATES HAVE:

  • Professional experience as a product designer, with work ranging from strategic ideation and problem-solving to wireframes, prototypes, and polished designs.
  • You have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Product Design, Interaction Design, or a related field (or equivalent proven field experience).
  • Portfolio which displays a strong design point of view and depth of experience with digital products (web to apps), including user-centered design methodologies, interaction flows, prototyping, high-fidelity screens, and shipped products.
  • Experience delivering multiple projects with cross-disciplined teams.
  • Experience defining patterns/style guides, performing user testing, and building low to high fidelity prototypes.
  • Proficiency in Figma, Miro, and usertesting.com (or similar programs)
  • An understanding of software development and how to best collaborate with engineers.
  • An appreciation for how language can simplify, clarify, and bring life to an experience.
  • A passion for research, with an understanding of how to process and balance qualitative feedback quantitative data, and empathy to drive innovative, user-centric solutions.
  • You are a strategic design thinker with strong and clear communication skills.
  • You have demonstrated a growth mindset along with informed and strong opinions, loosely held.
  • Competence in building collaborative relationships and aligning leadership stakeholders.
