Job Description:

Now Brewing – senior product designer, Marketer Portfolio (remote U.S.) ! #tobeapartner

From the beginning, Starbucks set out to be a different kind of company. One that not only

celebrated coffee and the rich tradition, but that also brought a feeling of connection. We are known for developing extraordinary leaders who share this passion and are guided by their service to others.

Starbucks is looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our UX design team in the marketing space, an important part of our company effort for reinventing internal tools and customer facing experiences. You will be responsible for inventing, executing, and refining digital products across our marketing platforms including digital menu boards in-store and in drive-thru.

As a Senior Product Designer on the Marketer Portfolio team, you will play a key role in supporting and reinventing the complex workflows of our creative operations partners. The ability to create and launch digital campaigns within our stores is instrumental to the business objectives and customer experiences of Starbucks, and the digital tools we use to do this require complex problem solving, understanding of user needs, and expertise in best UX/UI practices.

In this role, you love solving problems with your team in a highly collaborative environment. Your ability to influence strategy, be a design leader, and work cross-functionally with multiple teams in Design, Engineering, and Product Management teams is crucial. You’re a fierce advocate for the Starbucks customers and partners. You have a passion for making design accessible for all, and understand how to engage with and work alongside UX research to answer big questions. You have visual design chops, understand product process and delivery, and recognize how to bring UX to the work in a productive and engaging way.

Digital at Starbucks:

Every morning, tens of millions of people enjoy food and drinks at Starbucks. Our digital products are transforming the customers’ experience in big ways. The quality of this experience in a digital context depends on great design, and the opportunity to innovate at a global scale is huge.

Our products impact millions of people’s lives by not only taking the friction out of a daily routine but also rewarding them for their loyalty through conveniences, personalized content, and unique utilities.

As a senior designer, Marketer Portfolio, you will:

  • Collaborative Product Design: Partner with product teams to design major customer features in app and web. Effectively communicate the rationale and context behind your design decisions and connecting it with business results.
  • UX Vision: Help steward the vision and value of UX design and research within cross-functional teams, ensuring that user-centric design is at the forefront of our product development process.
  • Feature Definition: Collaborate with product management to define and prioritize features that address business needs, ensuring a seamless user experience across all platforms.
  • Interaction Design: Design intuitive and engaging interactions for new features, leveraging and expanding upon existing design patterns.
  • Cross-team Collaboration: Work closely with other product designers, providing constructive feedback to elevate the quality and consistency of our collective work.
  • Data-driven Design: Collaborate with data scientists and user researchers to assess the effectiveness and impact of your designs, making informed decisions to enhance user satisfaction.
  • Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously, delivering new features, bug fixes, and incremental improvements in response to customer needs.
  • Prototyping and Tooling: Utilize Figma and other design tools to build and prototype designs, quickly iterating based on feedback.

Innovative Collaboration: Bring creativity and a positive attitude to collaborative efforts, contributing to a dynamic and enjoyable work environment.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • Professional Experience: 3-5 years of product design experience, ideally in building and shipping digital products at scale. While the number of years is important, we place greater value on the quality of your design and the impact it has had on customers.
  • Mapping Skills: A portfolio showcasing strength in outlining difficult concepts in easily digestible ways. Ability to bring cross-functional teams together to visualize experiences and services that effect both front end and back end teams.
  • Strong Visual Design Proficiency: A portfolio showcasing strength in innovative concepts, systems thinking, and polished visual designs with meticulous attention to typography, spacing, and color.
  • Effective Communication: Strong ability to clearly articulate conceptual ideas, design rationale, and detailed design elements, both verbally and visually.
  • Product Lifecycle Involvement: Proven experience in a product organization, driving the design processes from initial planning through to multiple successful releases.
