As a Senior Staff Product Designer at CARS, you will help solve challenges unique to our dual-sided marketplace by creating and delivering thoughtful product design solutions to car shoppers and dealer customers through design, research, empathy, and vigor. We embed design and design thinking into our products—helping us build a future where the magic of creativity thrives. The Sr. Product Designer II for Consumer Monetization will be responsible for designing the experience to surface and sell auto-related products and services to the millions of car owners that visit our site each day. The Lead Product Designer for Consumer Monetization will do this by partnering closely with internal stakeholders (including Finance, Media, Marketing, and Sales), external stakeholders (near endemic partners), cross-functional teams, and other product designers to design products and features that excite, educate, and engage vehicle owners.
You will support Product Design team leadership by contributing to the establishment of strategy, vision, and architecture to deliver optimal product designs and user experiences. You contribute to expanded style guides, pattern libraries, and design systems for CARS products. You operate as an expert-level individual contributor with lead duties and develop design processes and resources with minimal oversight on multiple products or subject matter areas, while understanding the relationships and impact within the organization.
Essential Functions:
- Experience designing mobile, tablet, and desktop experiences for responsive web.
- Experience delivering wireframes, prototypes, user flows, and dev-ready high-fidelity designs.
- Lead design projects across the entire product lifecycle and multiple product launches.
- Partner with some facets of the business, contributing to product strategy and vision. Lead design alignment efforts with stakeholders across the organization to create a fit with strategic vision and coordinate through execution. See the connections between systems and lead projects or work with teams to bring them together.
- Rapidly produce multiple concepts and prototypes, anticipating and prioritizing the needs of stakeholders. Proactively brainstorm initial design concepts with cross-functional teams to bring product requirements to fruition.
- Engage in user-based research throughout the design process. Measure how your designs perform and come up with hypotheses for ways to improve performance. Represent the design team as a subject matter expert across cross-functional teams.
- Set an example of what Design leadership looks like in the organization by: staying open to feedback; providing design guidance to other product designers; mentoring designers throughout the organization; and providing constructive, respectful feedback on design deliverables. You are also able to delegate design projects to other designers.
- Translate complex user and business needs into simple, viable product design solutions.
- Maintain a presence in the broader Product Design community.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in visual design, human-computer interaction, industrial design or related, or equivalent work experience.
- 8 years’ experience in product design or related field.
- Experience with Figma, Sketch, Invision, Principle, Zeplin or comparable tools.
- Experience in an agile development environment.
Nice to Have Qualifications:
- 10 years experience in visual design, human-computer interaction, industrial design or related field.
