Title: Senior Product Designer

Location: San Francisco, CA or Remote (Based in the U.S.)

Our goal is to provide as much unbiased insight as possible, through simple and elegant product design. In addition, NerdWallet has one of the most competitive SEO strategies in the nation for helping consumers bring clarity to life’s financial topics. We believe UX is central to a best-in-class SEO program, so we’re seeking a Senior Product Designer who will deliver scalable solutions that can be adopted across the org with a goal of optimizing SEO. You will apply user experience and interaction design best practices to deliver stunning global navigation and cross-linking components.

As a qualified candidate, you’re passionate about helping users locate the info they need by finding meaningful ways to connect relevant editorial content and product experiences. Working collaboratively and iteratively you deliver tactical solutions that can scale to accommodate important use cases. You’re very comfortable working with cross-functional partners throughout the design process from design exploration to stakeholder feedback and engineering implementation.

The following are design initiatives you may deliver in this role:

  • Global navigation system and information architecture to aide in the discoverability of content available on nerdwallet.com
  • Page templates and components that help users discover content and product experiences that’s meaningful to them
  • Financial calculators aimed at clarifying users’ money questions

This role will report to the Product Design Manager for NerdWallet’s SEO team.

You are:

  • A strong design & systems thinker: You design with the big picture in mind, so your solutions can be re-utilized and expanded upon for additional use cases.
  • Comfortable working iteratively: You know how to scope design so your small, cross-functional team can deliver impact on schedule.
  • An experienced Product Designer: you have a broad understanding of the craft and deep expertise in interaction design and visual design
  • An enthusiastic collaborator: you know how to build cross-disciplinary support in order to achieve exceptional experiences
  • Data-driven: You leverage qualitative and quantitative insights to inform and explain your decisions.
  • Perpetually curious: You’re passionate about new technologies, industry trends, and the latest SEO optimizations.

Your experience:

We recognize not everyone will meet all of the criteria. If you meet most of the criteria below and you’re excited about the opportunity and willing to learn, we’d love to hear from you.

  • 6+ years of professional experience in Product Design or a related field
  • Previous experience delivering a navigation system with primary/secondary/tertiary considerations for a complex business
  • Working knowledge of accessibility WCAG guidelines and SEO fundamentals
  • Experience designing for web (including mobile web & desktop)
  • Ability to utilize research and data to drive design decisions
  • Comfortable using Figma (or similar design program) as a primary design and prototyping tool
