Position Overview:

As a Senior IT Engineer, Infrastructure Engineer at Iterable, you will lead critical efforts to modernize and scale our internal infrastructure across cloud and office environments. This role requires both hands-on technical expertise and strong cross-functional collaboration, as you’ll influence how infrastructure is designed, maintained, and adopted across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Own and manage the company’s VPN infrastructure (currently Pritunl), including infrastructure-as-code maintenance via Terraform and Salt, user support, and global endpoint expansion.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot the company’s in-office network infrastructure, including lifecycle management, new office openings, optimizations and end user support.
  • Maintain and administer internal DNS records and domain name assets, including procurement, configuration, and lifecycle management.
  • Design and implement secure, scalable alternatives to traditional VPN access, in partnership with Engineering and Cloud Infrastructure teams.
  • Provide opinionated leadership on how to manage the boundaries between IT and Engineering.
  • Establish ownership of the company’s Google Cloud environment, ensuring it is organized, compliant, and operationally sound; developing efficient provisioning and access practices for all stakeholders.
  • Drive the development and adoption of cloud tagging standards in collaboration with Engineering and other stakeholders to improve visibility, cost management, and resource lifecycle tracking.
  • Develop automation to identify and shut down unused cloud infrastructure, reducing waste and improving security posture.
  • Collaborate with Security, IT, and Engineering teams to support new infrastructure initiatives, improve tooling, and strengthen Zero Trust access strategies.
  • Lead by example, mentoring other IT engineers and specialists on the team to help us build an organization of “t-shaped people.”

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of of hands-on experience in IT/infrastructure engineering roles, with a strong focus on public cloud (GCP or AWS)
  • Expert Terraform, plus a configuration management stack (Salt, Ansible, etc.)
  • Proven experience working in cloud environments, with the ability to design and maintain infrastructure that integrates cleanly with existing systems
  • Have built or run production VPNs (OpenVPN, Pritunl, Wireguard, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience managing the balance between self-direction in a high-autonomy role and collaborating across teams, communicating clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Additional:

  • Familiarity with Zero Trust concepts and some experience with Zero Trust implementations
  • Strong mentorship skills
  • Experience implementing compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or CIS benchmarks
  • Comfortable with basic systems management automation via common scripting languages
  • Prior experience with automated cloud resource cleanup tools or cost governance tooling
  • Experience supporting distributed, international teams in a hybrid or remote work environment
