The Senior Interactive Designer works cross functionally with instructional design, UX, development, operations and project leaders to create effective, cohesive visual design solutions that meet the needs of varied users. This position collaborates with internal business partners to ensure that the designs support business strategies and objectives and promote the K12 brand.

The Senior Interactive Designer will create web components and be a 3D model designer that can imagine and fully execute learning solutions by combining visual design, animation, object-oriented scripting and 3D modeling. They will be a key team member of the Creative and Design Shared Services team where they will collaborate remotely with team members across the Teaching and Learning organization and the Creative Manager and Director on a daily basis.

The Senior Interactive Designer will use Stride’s component authoring tool to build and script high-quality learning games, virtual labs and other complex interactives using illustrations, animation and 3D models developed with Adobe Animate, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects and Blender among other programs. Additionally, this role will require modeling and manipulating 3D models either from a 3rd party source or creating from scratch for augmented reality experiences and integrations into Stride courses. This individual is passionate about developing games and interactive learning assets by combining animation, illustration, 3D modeling and object-oriented scripting skills, like Action Script.

  • Conceive and execute visual design solutions that support the K12 and Stride brand and business objectives in print and online components;
  • Utilize basic object-oriented scripting abilities to control animations, sprites and other objects.
  • Have excellent concept and design skills with demonstrated ability to take verbally articulated concepts and/or text and represent it visually;
  • Apply advanced knowledge of curriculum production workflow and are capable of coordinating with vendors, cross functional teammates, and leading projects to completion;
  • Provide level-of-effort estimation and status of visual design progress to managers and project management;
  • Proficiently build web components, illustrations and multimedia from written storyboards provided by instructional designers in a manner that addresses our design standards holistically.
  • Make recommendations on design best practices and efficiency to creative director;
  • Apply knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript and 3D modeling to support the development of web components and augmented reality experiences; maintains up-to-date knowledge of design in the ed-tech space;
  • Build creative, responsive, multimedia components that adhere to and further refine our design practices;
  • Prioritize work across multiple projects in an efficient manner;
  • Initiate design discussion across teams in order to bring creative solutions with consistency across our product line;
  • Inquisitive and curious personality that is able to research and test new augmented reality technolgy quickly and in an agile work environment;
  • Create and apply visual design templates.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Seven (7) years of experience in visual design, graphic design, web design, mobile design, animation, and/or product development OR
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

Certificates and Licenses: None required.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Organized and detail oriented and able to fully execute interactive assets from foundation content.
  • Motivated self-starter
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work through design and technical problems
  • Versatile design aesthetic reflecting an understanding of style as it relates to audience and content
  • Excellent listening and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate visual design concepts to non-designers
  • Proficiency in Adobe Animate or Adobe Illustrator, Adobe PhotoShop, Blender and Action Script, or similar scripting language.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Web proficiency
  • Good working knowledge of HTML/CSS and 3D modeling
  • Ability to pass required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of relevant Microsoft and Google cloud applications
  • Proven capabilities in project and user-testing management
  • Proven development of innovative and impactful systems solutions
  • Extensive experience with data visualization
