Sword is looking to hire a Public Relations Manager to organize and oversee PR activities and ensure effective communication with stakeholders, media and the public. We expect you to have a creative mind and excellent communication skills. If you are also confident in your public speaking and project management abilities, we’d like to meet you. The role is based in the US and reports to the Global Communications Director.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Develop and run proactive media campaigns and raise awareness and strengthen Sword’s reputation across all audiences;
- Identify relevant media story angles, craft pitches and secure stories in national, economic, tech and trade media;
- Work with our leadership team and key business stakeholders to build a compelling narrative about our business and products. Be comfortable writing about Clinical and Tech Product innovations.
- Develop and nurture media relationships. Pitch stories and relevant angles directly to reporters and editors.
- Craft an external engagement strategy (e.g.speaking opportunities, conferences, panels) for our business leaders.
- Organize PR events (e.g. open days, press conferences).
- Track media coverage and follow industry trends;
- Monitor social, economic, and political trends that might be relevant to the organization;
- Anticipate and manage PR issues
What you need to have:
- 5+ years experience in an in-house brand, agency or newsroom;
- High proficiency in spoken and written English – required;
- Experience managing media relations (online, broadcast and print)
- Background in researching, writing and editing communications materials;
- Strong communication ability (oral and written);
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Ability to work under pressure, within tight deadlines, and in a dynamic environment;
- Creativity and problem-solving attitude;
- Deep network of strong relationships across the media landscape in the US;
- The ability to dive in on details, distill complex information for external consumption while also understanding the bigger picture.
- Experience on media monitoring and PR platforms to get data analytics relevant.
- Digital Health experience would be a plus.
- BSc/BA in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or a related field
