JOB DESCRIPTION
The Scientist Mentoring & Diversity Program (SMDP) governance team is seeking a support to assist the program leads in event planning throughout the year. This position can be based in Spring House, PA or San Diego, California and will be hybrid. No relocation will be provided to out of state candidates.
Potentially for fully remote/work from home for candidates with any scientific background.
She/he will work with governance team to deliver on the Scientist Mentoring & Diversity Program (SMDP) business goals by partnering with the programs leads to continue annual strategic planning and operations .
Candidates should have project management, project/event coordination experience, lead with autonomy to partner xfunctionally, drive and manage activities scoped below. Candidates should have Project mgmt./coordination software tools experience (i.e. Microsoft Project, ServiceNow, Jira, etc.) Outlook/MS suite, and have experience submitting and managing purchase orders in any major ERP system (i.e. SAP, Oracle, etc.)
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline (scientific field preferred)
- Internal event planning: Assist with group travel and other planning necessities
- Contracting & PO management:
- Assist with PO management and event planning; xfunctional partnership with other functions as/where needed for contract execution and PO related inquiries
- External event planning: Hotel, travel, transportation, and oncampus logistics during the planning stages
- Experience working in MS Office: Excel, Word, PPT
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Scientific related discipline
- Experience with EMarketplace
