The primary Key Accountabilities of the job at this level is performed:
- Manages a very large, complex project or set of medium-sized projects, as a well experienced project manager. These projects involve multiple technologies and significant complexity, visibility/priority, and risk to the business
- Plans, tracks, and manages to success the projects they are assigned
- Coordinates with tech and business groups in establishing project scope, forecasts, and requirements/specifications gathering
- Facilitates the relationship between stakeholders and project team to ensure accuracy of functional requirements/specifications for handoff to development and QA teams.
- May lead the development of RFI/RFP process
- Conducts feasibility, risk, regulatory compliance, and ROI analyses for proposed projects as needed. Presents recommendations related to project feasibility
- Develops project plans. Manages resources, project schedule, and budget to meet deliverables. Tracks and reports key project metrics
- Actively manages the execution of the project, including assigning work to project staff, managing project scope and finances, and ensuring the quality of deliverables
- Leads feedback sessions, such as post-mortems and/or retrospectives
- Interfaces with customers and management to manage expectations, provide status updates on project, and discuss concerns. Accountable for ensuring resolution of concerns/issues
- May provide input to manager on staff performance relating to technology, but does not prepare or deliver reviews
- Provides coaching around Agile frameworks and best practices for feature/project delivery and/or coaches team members on traditional project management approaches, when needed
- Identifies, tracks, and removes impediments for feature/project and team success
- Manages the Project Transitions
Complexities:
- Establishes project resource requirements during the lifecycle of various projects; reallocates resources as needed
- Proactively manages potential conflicts between quality, timeline, and cost considerations
- Identifies and leads the management and resolution of risks, issues, and change controls encountered during the program and develops mitigation strategies to address them
- Identifies vague, undefined business needs, working to determine how to best address them
- Capable of helping users identify, develop, and plan for their current and future technology needs
- Develops and facilitates change management strategies related to their project(s) to ensure delivery is optimized
- May lead the assessment of the technical and economic feasibility of proposed solutions, uncluding ROI and other financial analyses.
- Works independently, typically only receiving oversight and direction during critical decision points or issues in the project
- Determines a course of action to resolve most project related problems and updates team members
- Selects tools, frameworks, and methodologies for projects, within established guidelines
- Designs the optimal project or program team structure and roles that will ensure the delivery of project results
- May lead negotiations with vendors and managing vendors in their work
- Negotiates and commits to deliverables with business partner(s) and project team
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience or Master’s degree and 4+ years of experience required
- Degree in Business or related field preferred
- PMP/Agile certification required, or the commitment to achieve certification within 12 months in the role
Job Related Experience & Skills:
- Six plus years of experience
- Possesses expertise in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques
- Requires financial acumen to provide leadership on project estimation and budgeting
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge multiple technologies, development methods and systems, and a solid understanding of programming languages
- Has an extensive understanding of business areas, their key success factors and objectives
- Understands technical and architectural considerations in order to effectively factor them into planning, decisions, and recommendations.
