The Opportunity

  • Manage multiple small to medium projects or small program(s) simultaneously; program management will likely be overseen by a Senior Project Manager.
  • Responsible for the successful delivery of projects and/or programs across the project life cycle.
  • Ensure constant monitoring of schedule and budget adherence.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of all required project documentation, ensuring compliance with Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) standards.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks.
  • Escalate and resolve issues and obstacles.
  • Ensure all required documentation is created and maintained.
  • Prepare and update estimates and track budget-related documents.
  • Develop project planning documentation for all types of projects (waterfall, iterative, agile, scrum), phases, and deliverables.
  • Report on project success criteria results, metrics, test, and deployment management activities.
  • Govern scheduled team deliverables for costs and timing.
  • Prepare estimates and detailed project schedule with assistance from project assigned subject matter experts (SME’s) for all phases of the project.
  • Procure adequate resources to achieve project objectives in planned timeframes and escalate resource constraints, as needed.
  • Manage the day-to-day project activities and resources.
  • Chair the Project Management team and facilitate Steering Committee meetings.
  • Ensure interdependencies between technology, operations, and business needs are clearly documented within the project schedule and all needed documentation.
  • Manage scope and process all project changes through the project change control process.
  • Provide guidance during the Initiation phase of the project.
  • Ensure processes are being followed and report on areas of non-compliance.
  • Facilitate training events, as needed.
  • Contribute to the Annual Planning cadence.
  • Assist with reviewing Off-Cycle project requests.

Required Experience and Competencies

  • 2 years of experience as a Project Manager managing small to medium sized projects required.
  • Experience managing or coordinating projects within a matrixed environment required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., Project Management, Business Administration, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the attainment of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required.
  • Experience working on technical projects, with the ability to translate from business speak to tech is preferred.
  • Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
  • Strong understanding and proven experience with the Project Management Body of Knowledge.
  • Ability to pay meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and influence others to meet required deadlines.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally at all levels of the organization to deliver results.
  • Ability to demonstrate management through influencing skills.
  • Knowledge of the principles, standards, practices, formal methodologies, and tools relating to effective management of operational projects.
  • Knowledge of the content, intent and application of regulations, policies, standards, operations, and requirements applicable to the matters under designated scope of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of concepts, principles, standards and systems, equipment, and tools, and of the interrelationships among various functions sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
  • Knowledge of the healthcare industry and associated business practices.
  • Knowledge of the standards and practices of budget development/implementation and process/performance improvement as relates to defined projects.
  • Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary resources to facilitate a project’s completion, and to accurately process, manage and maintain progress on multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to identify project issues, risk, weaknesses and/or critical problems, and to implement timely corrective action to forestall or remedy.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects from inception to successful implementation, and to demonstrate persistence in issues tracking, follow-up and resolution.
  • Ability to effectively intervene to impose control on overdue, over-budget or otherwise troubled projects.
  • Ability to use the capabilities of project management software to define, plan, size, resource, manage, and report on assigned projects.
  • Ability to track, monitor and evaluate budgetary compliance, and to manage project budget details and reporting.
  • Ability to identify, manage and evaluate appropriate team members for assigned projects.
  • Ability to provide expert technical advice, guidance and recommendations to management and stakeholders on critical operational issues.
  • Ability to explain project concepts/requirements to technical and non-technical audiences, and to convey information effectively in verbal and written communication, and group meetings/presentations.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents and to identify/interpret requirements/specifications pertinent to the assigned project.
  • Ability to synthesize project information and to produce accurate, comprehensive, and timely progress/status reports.
  • Ability to keep abreast of new and emerging project management and/or industry-specific trends, and their application to healthcare business operations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and build consensus.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position, including various management levels, vendors, and external organizations/agencies.
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate in English sufficient to perform the duties of the position.
  • Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level.
