The Project Manager is an individual that has proven experience planning and managing projects through the entire project lifecycle. The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to facilitate and manage key communication and deliverables, plan and lead initiatives, drive issues to resolution and takes ownership in the delivery of the end-to-end solution. The role requires an individual who is resourceful, confident under pressure, detailed oriented, and able to listen to the client’s needs and translate those to key business drivers and strategies.
The Project Manager’s role is to deliver the project on time, on budget and with high-quality deliverables. They are responsible for ensuring that the project has been planned efficiently, communicated effectively, and exceeds the client’s expectations upon delivery. CampusWorks’ Project Management services have been designed to give clients confidence that the vision, strategy, and tactical elements of their initiatives are being addressed and monitored. The CampusWorks’ approach to project planning and management is rooted in the phases defined by PMI, which form the foundation for successful project management organizations worldwide.
A CampusWorks Project Manager enjoys a fast-paced work environment with a deep understanding of the client’s project and goals. The project manager will collaborate with teams across CampusWorks and at the client site to deliver high-quality service that aligns with the project objectives. A CampusWorks project manager will work with vendor project managers to ensure the approach is sound, that the client team understands their roles and responsibilities, and that the client steering committee has a clear and current understanding of the true state of the project. During the engagement, the project manager will be responsible for communication across the client organization and to the management team at CampusWorks. While the CampusWorks methodology follows these PMI phases, the project manager will refine and customize the approach based on the specific needs of the client to ensure alignment with the client’s preferred project management processes and/or policies (as applicable).
Accountabilities
- The Project Manager is responsible in partnership with the project stakeholders for overall project success
- The Project Manager in collaboration with the client establishes the creation, execution, and monitoring of the project governance structure
- During initiation, the project manager will create the Project Charter, (including requirements, scope, success factors, milestones, budget, and resource identification), Stakeholder register and Risk Register
- During planning the project manager will create the Project Plan (including Quality Assurance Plan, Resource Management Plan, Procurement Plan, Change Plan, Communication Plan, Data Conversion Plan)
- Creation of the project schedule and workplan(s)
- Responsible for collaborating with appropriate CampusWorks and client stakeholders to maintain client project plans and status reporting
- Produces project management reports, monitors, and adjusts resource plans and site budgets, escalating and collaborating where appropriate
- Provides key decision support, monitors issues and risks, and creates mitigation plans for clients
- The Project Manager is responsible for learning and applying CampusWorks project management methodology and processes, and producing the related project management artifacts to support CampusWorks client success
- Manages project change control processes
- Facilitates weekly status meetings and delivers weekly status reports to client and internally at CampusWorks
- Routine status communication to the project steering committee and project sponsors

Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or above preferred
- Experience with leading transformation from a business/operational perspective required
- Experience with applications such as Salesforce, Oracle, Anthology, Ellucian, Workday, PeopleSoft, Jenzabar, SAP, Unit4, Canvas, Blackboard, Raisers Edge, etc. Experience across multiple applications a plus
- Experience with software solution and implementation services
- Experience in managing enterprise software implementations in higher education including products such as HR/payroll, Finance, Student, CRM, and Advancement systems

- Aptitude to comprehend complex business objectives
- Ability to articulate complex ideas into easy-to-understand business terms to all levels of management including executive leaders
- Strong written communication, verbal communication, analytical, problem solving, creative thinking, organizational, leadership, and time management skills
- Ability to be client facing and facilitate and contribute to meetings virtually and/or on-site
- Elevated level of attention-to-detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to make decisions at the individual contributor and project leadership level
- Ability to shift with changing priorities.
- Higher education industry business knowledge
- Knowledge of software and implementation services vendor solutions and capabilities serving higher education
- Understanding of common public and private higher education IT procurement practices and rules
- Ability to properly escalate decisions or delays that cannot be resolved on a timely basis
- Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Project, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office products
Preferred Experience
- 3+ years with a consulting/professional services firm preferred and experience consulting with Higher Education a plus
