Project Manager Job Description

As a member of PMO, the project manager will be responsible for managing key projects and creating project plans.

The Project Manager will be responsible for planning, execution and implementation of projects and will work closely with project owner, stake holders and end users on each project to identify current operating procedures, clarify program objectives, identify requirements and achieve the project deliverables.

The Project Manager position reports to PMO Director under the Operations Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages complex projects/programs from design and development to production. Creates and executes project work plans and revises as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Defines resources and schedule for project/program implementation, working with appropriate staff to create strategies for risk mitigation and contingency planning. Plans and schedules project deliverables, goals, and milestones.
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards. Maintains issue logs to track and manage project, vendors, and consultants.
  • Effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear manner. Determine and assess needs/involvement of staff and where required, negotiate with department managers for staff/resource commitment and/or involvement.
  • Manages the maintenance of application specific testing, development and training files and databases and ensures they realistically represent the production environment.
  • Manages expectations and keep stake holders informed of status and projected time frames for completion of projects and resolution of projects. Customer is informed of status and target for resolution and actions needed to resolve problems.

Job Qualifications

  • Graduate of a four (4) year college or university with a bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • PMP Certification
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in related information technology field.

Specialized Skills and Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of project planning and management.
  • Ability to develop and manage software/system implementation plans, projects, and teams along with ability to manage simultaneous projects.
  • Must possess strong technical skills, qualitative and quantitative analytical skills along with good organizational skills and judgment.
  • Requires strong interpersonal qualities, the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing along with the ability to deal tactfully, effectively, and equitably with people.
  • Experience with waterfall and Agile methodologies
